I thought it was great as it was chock full of interesting information and many pictures that i had never seen before. I thought it was better than the Inside TV Land special and i applaud A&E for making such a well made documentary.

I agree! I loved seeing the statue dedication footage that TV Land didn't show us. A&E did a really good job paying tribute to the show. About the only thing I would've liked would be to see Valerie Harper there. But even so it was really good.

I can't wait to see Season One on DVD in Sept!! :)

I also wished that they had used more clips with Ted Knight. As I recall, I only saw one... where he was describing his preparation for the audition. Were there any more??

I wish Val had been on it too. :( I thought A&E did a very good job as well. I think I liked the Reunion show on CBS best just because it seemed to capture all the actors' personalities better and seemed a bit more personal, etc., but I still liked the TVOgraphy a lot too. Hats off to A&E! :)

I thought the "TV-Ography" was great on the Mary Tyler Moore Show. It was more in depth than the Inside TV Land special. We got to know more "behind the scenes". I always find that interesting in these classic tv shows.

I also wish Valerie Harper was there to share in the memories, and if memory serves correct, Georgia Engle (of today) wasn't on the show sharing her views.

All in all, an A+ for A&E......!!!

....and thank god it was 2 hours long......

I thought it was good too. I thought the pictures were great, hadn't seen many of them before. That's unusual.
I think I've seen that unaired pilot scene somewhere, but I'm not sure.
There was lots of good info but it hurts a little to see people genuinely aging. (Happens to us all and yet it's still sad.) Ya know, starting to look weak. Wish Georgia Engle was there. Nice to know she
was actually close to being that character. Type of character people
either really like or are annoyed by.
I thought she was kind and sweet.
Liked seeing writers too. Really well done.

I'm almost certain that the unaired pilot was shown in "Inside TV Land". That's probably where you saw it.

The A&E TV- ography was SO much better than the Inside TV Land show, I thought! I've already watched it 3 times!! I don't think I've ever seen anything more informative about the show. By the way, did anyone else see Mary at the Tony Awards last Sunday? She looked fantastic!!!! It made me think, wouldn't it be cool if they made "WJM: The Musical" on Broadway and had all of the characters burst into great songs, like a big number when Chuckles dies. I mean, if they can have "Mamma Mia", why not that??

P.S. How do you all get those great pictures under your names?? :talk:
