So there was a reboot which pulled A Dallas style character come back from the dead: remember Dan Connor died on the last show in 1997. It was already starting off on a bad karma.

Gilbert and Roseanne started off well but it became about creative differences
it sounds as if it became Gilbert vs Roseanne. The show is renewed then this tweet firestorm incident happened. Clearly Roseanne made her mess but she has done so in the past. However, I do believe that Gilbert helped to spread the firestorm to her advantage.

She was part of the political show the View with a notable co host Whoppi Goldberg who could be just as crude as Roseanne. Whoppi Goldberg has said nasty things in the past yet was given a pass by Hollywood. Goldberg needs to get the treatment given to Roseanne for some of her comments

Yet you do not dispute that it was Gilbert that wanted the reboot. Reading that article brought it home that It was Gilbert, whose career was waning, wanted the reboot. I do not care what you say Gilbert will I repeat never reach the hights Roseanne achieved. John Goodman was right when he said recently that the show was hollow.
