What's the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist? I was wonderin' today while I was doing my hair....

(Try to go and figure the female mind. LOL. Especially mine. It tends to wander quite a bit...)

One of them can prescribe medicine and the other cant. I dont know which is which though.

I'd say the -iatrist one would be able to. What about a therapist?

A Pyschologist cannot perscribe medicine. They are more or less just a counslor.

A Psyciatrist, on the other hand, is a licensed medical practicer. They can perscribe medicine.

A psychologist is a professional who studies behavior and experience.

A psychiatrist, on teh other hand, is a doctor trained in the treatment of people with psychiatric disorders.

........As in stroke victims. Victims of strokes are sometimes paralyzed. Theripists help un-paralyze them. Or anyone who has gotten hurt from sports, activities, etc.

No a psychologist is more of a researcher. That would be more of a psychiatrist, but they're not therapists.
