In the last couple of seasons, the focus has been shifted from Christy's family to Bonnie Christy, Marjorie, Wendy and Jill as well as Adam and there hasn't been any reference to Violet and Roscoe. Have they been a victim of the Chuck Cunningham Syndrome?

Lol. Practically yes. I understand that they run out of ideas with them, and the focus is now on the AA's circle of friends... but they should be remembered from time to time. It's a pity that we don't have Christy talking about them or missing them.

French Stewart's character and his hispanic kitchen sidekick has disappeared from the show also. He was in an episode last season when Christy was gambling and lost her money in a game French's character was having.

I think the kids are gone forever because we have not seen them in two years and I think a lot of the viewing public has more or less forgotten about them. Have the two actors been in anything else?

Violet was great in that episode. I always felt bad for Violet for a lot of reasons. Christy really was a sucky mom.

I don't think Violet was being mean to Christy at all. Violet was just being truthful. And what Christy went through with her own mom is about Christy and Bonnie. It has nothing to do with Violet.

Bonnie never disappointed Violet the way Christy did. That's why Violet is nice to Bonnie.

Roscoe is much better off living with his dad and his step-mom Candice. Candice has been better to Roscoe than Christy ever was.

You're wasting your time rolling your eyes, because it's true. Roscoe couldn't wait to get away from Christy and even ran away to Marjorie's house for support. He told her that he wanted to live with his dad and Candice. He also loved Candice and Candice pays attention to him instead of falling down drunk and swinging on stripper poles. When Christy was a filthy drunk, it was Violet who cooked and cleaned for Roscoe. Violet even talks about how she used to make him tuna casserole for dinner. Violet was more of a mom to Roscoe than Christy ever was. Such a shame as it's a huge burden/pressure for any child.

In universe reason:

The daughter, Violet, moved away following her return from the failure of her life in Lake Tahoe. She got back together with Luke (the father of the child she gave up for adoption) and since she was on the program with her podcast blaming Christy (Anna Faris) her mother for her lot in life, the character has not been back on the series.

The son, Roscoe, grew older and in the fourth season went to live with his father. The actor is no longer with the program and is only mentioned in passing by his mother, which ironically isn’t seen on the program as being the serious dysfunction that it is.

Real life reason:

The series began to move away from the “Christy as a struggling mother” narrative in the fourth season. The Anna Faris/Allison Janney dynamic was preferred by viewers and the absence of children allowed for the series to become much darker than it would have been had they remained. Additionally, the interaction with and between women in their Alcoholics Anonymous group became the dominate narrative and that precluded the need to maintain the presence of Christy’s children.
