In an excerpt obtained by Radar Online (https://radaronline.com/exclusives/2018/10/busy-philipps-claims-james-franco-assaulted-her-new-memoir/) and verified by Yahoo Entertainment, Philipps details an incident in which Franco allegedly shoved her to the ground, and she writes that he was a “f***ing bully.” While shooting a scene for the 1999 cult TV hit, Philipps claims she was directed to gently hit Franco in the chest while delivering a line. The actor supposedly broke character and got upset.

“He grabbed both my arms and screamed in my face, ‘DON’T EVER TOUCH ME AGAIN!’” she writes in the book. “And he threw me to the ground. Flat on my back. Wind knocked out of me.”

Philipps remembers everyone on set was horrified. The Dawson’s Creek alum apparently sobbed to her co-star Linda Cardellini, who advised her to call her manager. The next day, Franco supposedly apologized after being ordered to do so by the director and producers. However, she notes that he was never punished for his supposed behavior.

Busy Philipps wants to make it clear that James Franco apologized for allegedly shoving her to the ground on Freaks and Geeks (https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/people/2018/10/10/busy-philipps-james-franco-assault-freaks-and-geeks-apology-book/1587572002/)

On Instagram, Phillips addressed the reports of her writing about Franco bullying her in her upcoming memoir, This Will Only Hurt A Little, pointing out that "my book is 308 pages, not one paragraph. The Franco story is used to illustrate a larger point about the way women are treated in this business and in life. There are no 'allegations' and no 'accusations'. It's a story that I have been telling for years. James apologized. I accepted. And I still get to tell it because it f*cking happened to me.” In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Philipps said: "It wasn't even outrageous. At the time, 19 and with my first professional acting job, I was under the impression that this was just the way things were (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/busy-philipps-talk-show-busy-tonight-working-james-franco-1150422). James and I have talked about it over the years. At one point he apologized to me. I was always acutely aware of my expendability, and so I felt I needed to never complain, always show up on time and not be difficult. If someone else was being difficult, it was my job to be the easy one or figure out a way to soothe the situation."

Busy Philipps is disappointed her book tour has become all about James Franco (https://www.themarysue.com/busy-philipps-book-tour-james-franco/)

Philipps said last night on Watch What Happens Live she was surprised how many headlines were devoted to her allegation that Franco pushed her on the set of Freaks and Geeks, especially since she recounted the same story (https://jezebel.com/busy-philipps-has-been-talking-for-years-about-the-time-1829605876) in 2016 on the very same Bravo late-night show. Philipps said she expected the Franco story to grab headlines, but she didn't expect it to overshadow her book tour. "I’m a woman in this industry who wrote a very personal book ... and the headlines were all about a man," Philipps said.
