Tina Turner is heading to Broadway — kinda!

On Wednesday, Stage Entertainment announced that Tina, a musical based on the life of the legendary singer, will premiere on Broadway in the fall of 2019. The musical received its world premiere on the West End stage in London back in April where it has continued to play to sold-out audiences.

“Bringing this musical to life on stage and working with this team has meant so much to me, I feel that it is in many ways a culmination of my career,” said Turner in a statement.

“London audiences have been and continue to be extraordinary. Now, the bright lights of Broadway are calling, and I’m very excited to share this beautiful show with New York audiences next year.”

Directed by Phyllida Lloyd (2008’s Mamma Mia! movie adaptation), written by Katori Hall with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins, and choreographed by Anthony van Laast, the stage show tells the story of the singer's life from her humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee to her chart-topping, Grammy-winning days as the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

The theater at which Tina will debut, as well as performances dates, casting, and all further details will be announced in the coming months.

There's lots to love about Tina Turner and it's no wonder why she continues to amaze fans with her powerful talent and awesome voice and so a Broadway musical about Tina Turner is a great idea for fans to discover and learn more about Tina Turner's career and I'm sure that when it opens in 2019 Tina will be a huge smash hit on Broadway. I discovered Tina Turner by accident when I was in the music store and the music store had a copy of the original 1984 cd version of Private Dancer but it was too expensive at the time and for Christmas in 1999 my mother got me Private Dancer in the 1997 remastered version that had more unreleased tracks and I just loved Tina Turner's music . I also wonder if they will put the song I Don't Wanna Fight that she sang for the soundtrack of What's Love Got To Do With It that starred Angela Bassett in the Tina Turner role as well as her other 90's hits in the play too? But I'm sure am hoping that the Broadway play Tina will be playing in cities for a long time
