View Full Version : Was Laura a pretty awful character in her own right
Especially in the earlier seasons? I mean, much has been made about how Steve's advances towards Laura (and how he goes out of his way to sabotage her love life), especially in hindsight, are massively creepy. But with Laura, she's obsessed with money. And even when Steve is nice to her and actually does do something good for her she still treats him like garbage. Not only that, her taste in guys is decidedly terrible and the weakest lines from guys work on her.

Well then it sounds like Steve and Laura deserved each other, then.

Her taste in guys was rather lousy. Daniel Wallace only wanted one thing. Ted did nothing but lie about her, the guy she went to the drive in with only wanted one thing, and that Curtis guy was too reckless with his driving meaning Laura's safety only would've been compromised. Mark New House from season one, Ziggy from season five, and of course Stephan were the only guys who were really worth anything.
God bless you always!!!

Furienna 11-14-2018, 04:24 PM I find it interesting that even if the writers clearly wanted us to like Laura (yeah right), they still had the sense to point out that she treated Steve poorly during those first seasons. Sure, you can feel that Steve should have just left Laura alone. Nobody would have been happier than me, if he only had moved on and given up on that shallow bitch already even before Myra came along. But like other posters have said, Laura's taste in guys was awful. So it was good that someone kept his eyes open, when it came to jerks like Daniel Wallace and a few others.

Weirdly enough, I can't remember that character.
Also, Laura came off looking shallow with the whole thing between her and Stefan. Despite how much Steve tries she just doesn’t want him as he is, but Steve with an entirely different personality and look is someone that she could see herself with. I mean, Laura doesn’t like him as clumsy, nerdy, embarrassing, whiny voiced Steve but let smooth talkin’, fashionable, marginally less annoying Stefan come around. She’s willing to give him a chance despite him and Steve literally being the same person.

That is Laura in a nutshell though. The bitch was shallow to a disgusting degree.

What pretty girl in middle school and high doesnt want the COOL GUY? So her portrayal was realistic of girls her age

Laura was never even that pretty. Seriously though... Yeah, the portrayal was realistic.
The problem is that I simply can't relate to that personality type at all. I was more like Myra as a teenager.

Well she wasn't all that pretty in the beginning like Ashely from Fresh Prince but she ended up being attractive once she reached high school.
And let's be honest not many girls want nerds in middle school and highschool unless they are nerds themselves

I thought she was pretty around season 4 but so was Judy and Myra
