The Charlie Day co-created Fox sitcom, boasting a cast of David Alan Grier, Martin Mull, Vicki Lawrence, Leslie Jordan, features jokes that are "soft and more fun-loving than caustic," says Tim Goodman. "They won't make you double over laughing (or maybe they will — your mileage may vary when it comes to comedy). But what does work here is the effortless ease with which Mull, Grier, Lawrence and Jordan never miss a beat. Set-up, punch line, retort, set-up, punch line, sight gags, physical humor — they've got this down. These are comic vets, in some cases legends, and they will take The Cool Kids to heights that are probably higher than the material or even the format merits."

ALSO:

The Cool Kids is of startingly poor quality with a desire to “shock” through the dullest sort of crassness (https://variety.com/2018/tv/reviews/cool-kids-review-fox-charlie-day-1202954396/)
The Cool Kids is appealing if you like sophomoric humor in the vein of Married...with Children (https://www.tvguide.com/news/the-cool-kids-fox-review/)

The pilot wasn't fantastic, but it wasn't bad either. It was pretty good. It was the first network show in years to attract me enough from the .2 rerun stations and get me to watch it.

I loved it! Vicki Lawrence is the greatest.

And seeing how some outlets don't like it's humor like that Variety article written is the signal that I probably would like it's humor.

I think it is pretty good. I'd say Happy Together and The Cool Kids are the best new sitcoms this season.

I thought the show was pretty good. It's good to see Martin Mull on TV again. Not to mention the wonderful Vicki Lawrence.

I think the Cool kids is so funny and I've always liked Vickie. I laughed so hard the first 10 minutes of the first episode. I think Fox has a hit on their hands.

I thought Happy Together was so so. That one girl on there use to be on The Carmichael Show,
