I really miss SOAPnet and The Hub. These 2 channels were so much fun.

I'm a huge soap fan, particularly "Days of our Lives". I also like "All My Children", "Port Charles", "Passions", & "Sunset Beach". I'd love for a new soap channel to be introduced that just airs classic soaps but the likelihood of that is near impossible.

The Hub aired awesome shows when it first premiered then gradually got worse.

I miss The Hub also. I liked it when they played Sabrina, Facts of Life and Blossom. I also miss the old TV Land and Nick at Nite. They used to play great shows. I remember on New Years Eve they would play series finales and on New Years Day they would play series pilots.

I miss the Hub a great deal even though I'm not sure I'd still be watching if it still existed. It's become a deeply nostalgic spot in my memory.

SOAPnet's still around; they've changed their name to POP and they don't show very many soap operas anymore.

Pop was originally The prevue guide, then became The TV Guide network, then became POP.

POP used to be TVGN (TV Guide Network), and awhile back before TV Guide owned it, the Prevue channel that had listings scrolling on the screen.

The channel must be owned by CBS because those are the soaps they currently air. I've never been a fan of the CBS soaps.

I've never been a fan of the CBS soaps. It is owned by CBS, which is why that channel airs Big Brother After Dark every year now. At one point Days of Our Lives repeated at 8PM after the CBS soaps but that didn't last long.

Regarding SOAPnet, did it last longer in certain markets than others? I remember during Hurricane Sandy (Oct. 2012) that the TV on the treadmill in the hotel gym was tuned into SOAPnet .

I recall others saying that they lost that channel way before that.

Anyway, I miss:

NickGas / Noggin

There's no channels I really miss besides The Hub when it first started out. Once they started relying on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (it was their cash cow after all) and began overplaying the life out of it and cancelled Dan Vs, I gave up.

Well SoapNet was originally scheduled to go off the air in 2012, but for a variety of reasons (mostly due to a delay in launching Disney JR) it continued to air on many cable systems well into 2013.

In December 2013, SoapNet officially went off-the-air forever being replaced by Disney Jr.

I’ve always hoped (and still do) that there would be an all Soaps streaming channel/network.

Defunct channels that I miss:
The WB
ABCFAMILY
SoapNet
TNN/Spike TV
The Hub

VH1 Classic

I miss many channels that are more than awful now when compared to their glory days, but won’t count them as defunct (TBS, Nick at Nite, TV Land, WPIX, Sci-fi, MTV, etc).

I don't miss any channels, I have nearly all the classic TV shows many of these defunct networks used to show on DVD, uncut and commercial-free along with hundreds of others that were never shown on these channels. I also have thousands of movies, serials and documentaries which I can watch anytime I wish to. Even if these shows were to be shown I no longer need commercial TV. I'm a victim of my success! :D

Freeform even still has the 700 Club, which Pat Robertson's sale to them stipulated they had to air it in certain slots.

VH1 (the old version)

The channel today is some kind of BET for teens, even worse than MTV2 but with more reality series and off-network reruns like The Jamie Foxx Show and The Parkers as well as movies. They entierly removed the music videos for this ****.

Viacom really need to get rid of this and bring back the channel's spirit in the 90s, with Pop-Up Video, Behind The Music, Movies That Rock and the good stuff that the channel used to air that time ! This would be wonderful, but this unfortunately not going to happen :(

At least there's still VH1 Classic Europe...

It was a separate channel that was launched in 1997 and closed in 2000. Here is the Wikipedia entry

Knowing what we know now, I guess I can make so many jokes about the fact that the logo looks like half of an egg.

I haven’t had cable tv for about four years now so I don’t know what’s left out there. I don’t watch much tv (mostly dvds here) but I do remember Trio, Odyssey, and GoodLife channels back about 20 years ago as they all had some good shows on. I also remember when so many channels were good but have turned to garbage. Too many to list here.

I miss the “old” Fox/ABCFamily. I preferred when it was more syndicated reruns of sitcoms and family movies, with few original series.

I used to love watching (and taping!) Who’s The Boss?, Growing Pains, The Wonder Years, Full House, Family Matters, Step By Step, Boy Meets World, Sister Sister, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Two Of A Kind, 8 Simple Rules, What I Like About You, Hang Time, 7th Heaven, Everwood, Power Rangers, X-Men, Spider-Man and more!

I remember that one. When History Channel went to reality shows most of their documentary type shows went to H2. Nowadays they're nowhere to be found. I can't even remember the last time I saw an episode of Modern Marvels.

Vice is indeed trash. ohno:

Canadian Channels I Miss

These have either disappered completely or they have been rebranded.

NHL Network --- Now only available in US.
Much Music --- Canada's version of MTV.
TV Land Canada and Comedy Gold --- At one point, this was better than the original.
PRIME --- Classic TV and lifestyle channel that had a great lineup.
CTS --- Religious station which showed great classic family shows in the afternoon.
LoneStar --- Classic westerns running all day.
Teletoon Retro --- Classic cartoons from Hanna-Barbera and Looney Tunes and many others without the stupid hosts and annoying puppets.
The Score --- Formerly Canada's 3rd largest sports network after TSN and Sportsnet.
