View Full Version : Favourite Aunt Clara moments
Novarro 06-02-2002, 09:25 PM What are fans favourite memories of Aunt Clara? I love the episode where she causes a black out over the entire Eastern Seaboard. Marion Lorne was such a wonderful actress, i wish she had of lived long enough to collect her well deserved Emmy in 1968
*ShortCake* 06-03-2002, 08:22 PM I love it when she runs into the walls when she tries to walk through them.. lol poor thing!!!
cablejockey 06-04-2002, 11:02 AM I loved Aunt Clara too, and it seemed like Liz Montgomery had a special affection for her also. Watching the show over the years it has occured to me that Marion Lorne seemed to really be like her character.
THIS ISN'T AN MOMENT PER SE, BUT I LOVED HER DOORKNOW COLLECTION.
Paula 06-19-2002, 02:57 PM I think there was an ep where poor Aunt Clara thought she was getting too old to use witchcraft, and I liked that one. I think that even Darren comforted her in the end.
Next to Darrin, Samantha and Uncle Arthur, Aunt Clara is one of my favorite characters. She always meant well in spite of all her blunders, and it was obvious that even Darren respected her (no matter how many times he got irritated with her goof-ups).
Novarro 06-19-2002, 07:06 PM Yes Darren definately did have affection for Aunt Clara dispite her goof ups and she was the only one of Samantha's family that liked him as well

I loved Aunt Clara and Darrian's relationship.I loved the blackout episode too. I love her response to when she found out she had caused a blackout in 12 sates and she said well could happen to anyone:lol:
tv star collector 05-23-2006, 08:48 AM THIS ISN'T AN MOMENT PER SE, BUT I LOVED HER DOORKNOW COLLECTION.
I loved the Halloween episode, "The Witches Are Out" (first aired Oct. 29, 1964)
in which Aunt Clara swiped all of guest star Shelley Berman's doorknobs!
comedyfreak 05-23-2006, 10:14 AM I loved "Samantha Meets the folks". It was the first time Sam met her in-laws and Aunt Clara tried to make Sam look like she could cook and bake by zapping the food for Sam and giving her credit.
Another favorite was "Samantha For The Defense" Endora accuses Aunt Clara of not being able to do magic and wants her earthbound. Samantha is her lawyer Aunt Clara goofs up, but makes things right by making everyone disappear.
catlover79 01-31-2007, 07:49 PM LOVED the time Aunt Clara turned the Tates' son into twins. OOPS!!

The power failure episode
cattano 02-05-2007, 12:52 AM The power failure episode was a classic.:)
Scoobiedoo30 02-05-2007, 03:21 AM The Power Failure Episode
Be Right Back! 06-13-2007, 01:50 AM I forget which episode it was, perhaps the one where she meets an old boyfriend and they both find out their powers are failing after trying to convince each other that they were as powerful as ever.
Sam asked her something and Aunt Clara's stuttered reply was: "I'm a swinger, and I gotta swing." It was so cute, as she was.
I liked the one where she zaps them back to the Pilgrim days.
Larry Tate 06-15-2007, 11:09 AM The episode you are thinking of is # 118 from season 4 seen on Nov.16,1967
"Allergic to Macedonian DoDo Birds"
where Samantha is asking her about how she had gotten her new
powers from Endora.
Larry Tate :)

Wasn't she sweet...
catlover79 06-16-2007, 10:21 PM "Oh dear, I zigged when I should have zagged."
Scoobiedoo30 06-17-2007, 01:26 AM yes she is sweet
I also thought it was cute when she brought Benjamin Franklin to the present day.
comedyfreak 06-17-2007, 10:55 PM My two favorite Aunt Clara episodes are Samantha Meets The Folks and when she turns Larry's son into twins.

That gets my vote as Aunt Clara's biggest gaffe of them all - turning the Tates' baby into twins. That episode was a scream. :brent
comedyfreak 06-18-2007, 03:28 AM She was so perfect in her role.
airhead 07-06-2007, 04:20 PM When she conjured up ben Franklin.

I agree! That's my favorite Aunt Clara ep. as well.
OH Nuts! 12-21-2011, 05:50 PM They're all wonderful of course, but the one that touched me the most was when she got her powers back courtesy of Endora. Loved it when the old gal turned the street into a canal and sent Gladys screaming to the hills lol
(Don't know which ep but I bet Monika does!)
catlover79 12-22-2011, 12:25 AM That was "Allergic to Ancient Macedonian Dodo Birds" from Season 4. Classic.

Always happy to help.
rezny717 12-24-2011, 04:38 PM And a wonderrful Aunt Clara moiment is in second season's "Aunt Clara's old flame",in which she tells Endora "Endora, haven't you got a house to haunt?, ",because she and her old beau want to be alone.Endora gets the hint, and vanishes, with Samantha and Darrin(Dick York)looking on,in amazement and pleasure,as they leave to go in the kitchen.
bliss 12-24-2011, 06:02 PM Fave Aunt Clara episode was the one where she meets Darrin's parents.
I don't know why they don't mention Aunt Clara ever again on Bewitched after season 4. Not even name dropping once in awhile in certain episodes at least. It's like she never existed.

Yes, that was a fun one. I just can't pick one though! Sorry. I love too many of them equally. The show really suffered a BIG dent when Marion passed. It's almost tempting to say she made the show but of course that'd be an overstatement (too many other fine actors). But she did make a VERY BIG contribution that I sorely missed when she was no longer around. RIP Marion! The Seasons she was in are my favorites.
And imho, there is no such thing as too many Aunt Clara eps. One of the very few examples of something I could watch several hours on end.
comedyfreak 01-05-2012, 04:46 AM I liked Allergic to Macadonian Dodo Birds, Endora loses her powers and Aunt Clara gets them it was cool to see her pop in, pop out and zap up things with ease. She says, I'm a swinger and I swing.

Well, if I have to make a short list THIS ep would be on it. What I liked about it was seeing Clara acting like a little kid in a candy store with all her new-found powers. This ep had a tender and touching quality to it since the poor thing lost practically all her powers prior to the wierd power transfer from Endora.
It was fun seeing the old gal having fun for one last time (zapping this up and that) and of course making Gladys SUPER CRAZY was just some extra icing on the cake. "(ABNAH! ABNAH!!! AAARRGH )" lol
catlover79 01-25-2012, 05:26 PM Who could forget Endora's pitiful cries of, "Durwood, help me!" Great episode - classic work by all, but especially Agnes Moorehead and Marion Lorne. :D
comedyfreak 01-26-2012, 06:19 AM I agree....I cracked up when Endora couldn't even lift the coffee pot, it's too heavy, LOL.
catlover79 01-26-2012, 03:11 PM Darrin: "Awwwwwwwwww..."
