View Full Version : Why didn't Alice keep moving to LA?

She just stayed in Phoenix (and became a waitress) when her car broke down. LA is only a 5 hour drive from Phoenix. Couldn't Alice scrape up $20 for a Greyhound bus ride to LA? I mean, if you want a showbiz career that bad, you wouldn't let a broken down vehicle keep you from chasing your dreams.

Also, if she was from New Jersey, why didn't she move to Nashville (where Alice moves to at the end of the series after landing a recording contract) in the first place, it would have been closer to NJ and they probably went by it on their way to Phoenix?

Because the script called for her to stay at Mel's Diner.

Stating the obvious and contributing nothing to the thread.

Alice didn't go on to L.A. because she wasn't as passionate and determined to make it in showbiz as she claimed. If she was, nothing would have stopped her, especially a broken down car. Alice was a quitter and a dreamer. She was all talk.

I think that was an aspect of realism to the show.... in real life it's easy to fall into routines . In the Movie Alice Doesn't Live here anymore, Alice came from New Mexico, so that made more sense, she was much closer to LA to start with
