Maggie Grace is celebrating her 35th birthday today. Grace grew up in the suburbs of Columbus, OH, and moved to Los Angeles after finishing high school to go into acting. Her first major role was as Martha Moxley in the TV movie Murder in Greenwich. Grace made a number of TV guest appearances and had a recurring role on Oliver Beene, before landing her first regular TV role. She played Shannon Rutherford on the first two seasons of Lost (as well as returning for the series finale).
During and after her run on Lost, Grace began working regularly in feature films. As seems obligatory for most young, not-yet-established actresses, she starred in a couple of horror films, including the remake of The Fog. She also appeared in Suburban Girl and The Jane Austen Book Club. In 2008, Grace costarred as Kim Mills in Taken, and returned to the role for the two sequels. While her character was a classic damsel in distress in the first film, she became a more active character in the sequels.

While Grace is best known for Lost and the Taken trilogy, she has worked steadily in film for over a decade. She had small roles in high profile films, such as Knight and Day and two of the Twilight films. She has starred in a variety of lower-profile features, such as the action sci-fi film Lockout, the indie drama About Alex, the 1970s period piece Showing Roots, and this year’s The Hurricane Heist, which is (surprise, surprise), a heist thriller. Grace also played the title character of the web series Susanna. Earlier this year, she joined the regular cast of Fear the Walking Dead as Althea, and she is expected to return for season 5.
In 2013, Grace made her Broadway debut, starring as Madge Owens in a revival of William Inge’s Picnic and receiving favorable reviews for her performance.
