Do we know what his job is as a civilian?
Back in WWII could you be an engineer without the degree? Could he have been one thing in the service and something different afterward?
Did he go to college before the war or after?

Don’t know but in several episodes he appears to be in marketing and later has a plaque on the wall about the stock exchange. Always talks about the home office. Like a lot of GI’s Ward probably went to college on the GI bill.

Didn't Ward and June meet in college? And Ward had June's pictures and letters from when he was a Seabee...

Yes, so it was college before the war. Why would they place him as an engineer if he went to college for marketing?

I think he said in one of the episodes he had gone to school to be an engineer. Not sure why he would chose finance for civilian life instead of engineering; maybe he felt it offered more stable situation job wise. It's really hard to say.

I think this background came out in "Beaver's Hero." This is probably the episode where Ward explains it to Beaver.
This is another episode where Beaver is on a spot at school, this time having gotten into trouble bragging about his father's war heroics. Ward calls Mr. "Andy" Willet and explains, and Willet changes the subject in the classroom, saving Beaver a lot of embarrassment.

Yes! This is where I learned it from. Ward says that he was put in the place he would do the most good and I thought that he did not say he was put where he was trained, so it started me thinking if he went to school for engineering or something else.

Those episodes you describe are one and the same. Beaver’s Hero where Beaver hopes he can find weapons in his war chest that prove he was a hero. When he finds he only measured dirt and gets a call from blond Mr. W to bring in souvenirs he knows he bit off more than he could chew.

I was saying it was one of several episodes where Beaver gets in trouble by bragging or lying at school. Like saying he had a parrot, or writing his essay about June from a TV interview.

Oh I see. Yeah Beaver really liked to embellish knowing he would have to eat crow.
