I've been curious. Are there any shows you didn't like at but later on became a fan of or is there a show you liked at first but later on couldn't stand.

Shows I didn't like at first but became a fan of later on:

Spin City - I avoided watching the show because I thought it would be an overly political comedy and have more of the generation gap "humor" that Family Ties had. It wasn't until the show aired on Laff that I decided to give it a try (I tried watching it before on FXX, but unfortunately, it was a Charlie Sheen era episode so it was pretty low quality). At first, I thought it was slow going with a little bit of laughs here and there. It wasn't until season 2 where I started to really get into the show and by the end of the Michael J. Fox era of the show, I wanted to watch it from the beginning of season 1 again. Too bad the Charlie Sheen era was pretty bad, especially with a majority of the city hall staff missing.

Home Improvement - I was pretty young when this show was still in local syndication, so I didn't exactly get the humor. I never bothered watching it again until just this year when Laff started airing it. It's not a show I'd watch two full hours of, but if I'm waiting for something else and Home Improvement is on or there's an episode of Home Improvement I do want to watch, the show thankfully gets the job done.

Night Court - Thought it was a dull show with a lack of laughs (I couldn't stand the serious moments at the time), but I decided to give it a go one night and slowly, I got into the show and became a fan of Harry's character.

The Hogan Family - I'm gonna admit that I may sound biased on this one because admittedly, I've never seen the Valerie Harper episodes only the later seasons with Sandy Duncan. At first, I thought it was gonna be another cheesy 80s family sitcom that would make me want to turn my television off in irritation (looking at you Growing Pains), but after a few episodes, I started to get into the show and slowly became a fan of it.

Shows I liked at first but later on couldn't stand:

The Drew Carey Show - Loved this show as a kid up until it basically disappeared from American television. When Laff launched, I found out TDCS was one of the shows that they aired and I started watching every single episode of the show since it was years since I last watched it. On the first cycle, I thought it was an okay show that later on started to struggle with finding its identity, especially with the final two seasons. Then I watched the show again on its second and third cycles and well... I see why a lot of people give the show crap. It's far from a bad show, but it just didn't know what it wanted to be after the first few seasons and then just turned into whatever it felt like it wanted to be. One of my biggest problems with the show now when I try to watch it is just how Drew is always a yes man and never puts his foot down in a situation.

Here is a few for me

China Beach- at first didn't think i'd like it, but after a while, i really enjoyed it more and more as i watched.

American Gladiators- at first, found it to be cheesy, but i gave it a go, and got into the show more.(it didn't hurt that they changed the shows set midway through the first season.)

"HOGANS HEROES"-I used to like this show when I was growing up in the 60s and the 70s when I used to watch the reruns. But then I saw the movies STALAG 17 and THE GREAT ESCAPE and I head stories about how brutal the german POW camps were and after that I started to hate show because it's so unrealistic. But I've recently started watching it again on ME TV and now I like it again and watch it almost every night.

"THE FLYING NUN"-I used to LOVE this show when I was growing up, even watching the reruns in the 70s, 80s and 90s. But then when TV Land used to show it in the 2000s I watched it a couple times and saw how STUPID it is-even for one of the "fantasy sitcoms" of the 60s (I read somewhere once that even Sally Field hates it).

It took a while to get into Mad Men. The reason I kept trying was because the set designers were so incredibly accurate to the time period, down to cracker tins in the kitchen. I think one problem was that there were so many characters and it was somewhat difficult to follow the storylines but once I did, it was a great show. Sort of like a long movie cut into episodes and chapters.
