More specifically, the jokes about Al Bundy working as a shoe salesman? Think about it this way:
He worked a full time job.
He didn’t NEED a second job.
Had a car.
Had his own house.
Kept his family fed and clothed.
Had a collection of friends who genuinely looked up to him and saw him as a leader.
Yet, he’s supposed to be a loser. The point is that the jokes maybe a hard sell today because the way the cost of living has gone up while wages have stagnated have put his lifestyle out of reach for a growing percentage of Americans.
