In 1983 the late Rick James decided to create a girl group called The Mary Jane Girls and The Mary Jane Girls released their self titled debut album which had their very first single Candy Man and the ballad All Night Long. Soon after the success of the album The Mary Jane Girls became a popular opening act for the late Prince. In 1985 The Mary Jane Girls released their second album All For You which had the popular 80's anthem In My House but after a cover of Frankie Valli And The Four Seasons hit Walk Like A Man appeared on the soundtrack to the Howie Mandel movie A Fine Mess The Mary Jane Girls split up. Before the Spice Girls and TLC and En Vogue and other girl groups became popular The Mary Jane Girls were one of the best girl groups that should've had a bigger career and I hope The Mary Jane Girls can one day make a comeback soon
