I am 6 days late, but better late than never. Happy 69th birthday, Shelley.

I wished I had remembered so I could have rewatched 1 of my favourite Shelley episodes - as an example, "Diane Chambers Day," she was never sexier than the last scene of that episode; or "Everyone Imitates Art" her range and her performance in that episode was amazing. Anyway, I will try tonight

I will never not love "Cheers" and I will never not have a crush on you, Shelley. Happy Birthday and many more.

By the way, and à propos of nothing in particular, "Cheers," is the 2nd most popular 1980's sitcom in this section of this board, with over 45000 views. First, if you can believe it, is Facts of Life, with nearly double, over 89000 views.

WTF?

I'm a big fan of both shows, but I did grow up with The Facts of Life reruns in daily syndication as a child. That cast grew to feel like my older sisters and my 3rd grandmother.

A big reason for the fact that the FOL board has more posts/views than any other 1980s sitcom here, is because back in the early 2000s there was a huge Nancy McKeon/"Jo" army which absolutely flooded that board at the time.

Thankfully, they have gone on to perform some coup somewhere else. ;) (nothing against Nancy or Jo, but it was tiresome seeing such so much of the attention going to her alone, people making polls like "Who's your favorite besides Jo?" [my emphasis --- such polls claiming/assuming Jo must be "everyone's favorite", etc.] )

Haha! I'm not at all surprised FOL was the most popular '80s sitcom on these forums. It was, as far as I know, the longest-running sitcom of the 1980s. I loved Cheers, but FOL has a special place in my heart.

(But '80s Sitcoms is right about the group I've sometimes referred to as the McKeon Peons.)

I actually am surprised, because it was never a contender in the ratings. I would have assumed one of the big "Top 10" hits of the decade would be #1.

But what top 10 hit was a hit during the entire 1980s? Aside from Cheers, which didn't start until 1982...

That's not the factor I meant. I just meant I would have thought one of the most popular sitcoms of the '80s would have been the most popular board here; and actually Cheers is a great example, it was in the top 10 for most of its run.
