Whilst we wait for the exact number of casualties to be confirmed one speculates about the motives of the shooter. Sunday, traditionally a family day which used to be reserved for the church and a day to recuperate now seems to have melded into the other days of the week and to have lost any special significance. The lack of positive role models for young people at a crucial time in their development has not helped, along with the Get Rich Quick At Any Cost culture which now pervades insidiously most of the Western world. Add the relative ease of accessing guns and one has concocted a toxic mix, which has mestatasized into all areas of society from a church at Sutherland Springs, Texas last November, the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in February and a nightclub in Orlando two years ago, where forty-nine perished. It seems that nowhere now is safe.
