It’s in HD, and the colors are more vibrant than on DVD or on cable. There is still some noise/dust in the picture, so it hasn’t been fully remastered. And it’s been cropped for widescreen. But it’s worth checking out.

The best part is that the two-part episodes are shown seamlessly as two-hour episodes if that’s the way they originally aired. On DVD, “The Burn Out” is shown as it was in syndication, with a sloppy edit at the end of the first part (where Olivia is breaking down over the damage to the house and the family being scattered, and John comforts her). Amazon shows the full scene, with John joking with her at the end and getting her to laugh a little (much less of a downer).

It’s the regular series episodes only, not the Homecoming or the six reunion movies. The “Decade of the Waltons” retrospective from season 8 isn’t included either.
