The Queen of Soul sang the theme song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9lVlt5FpYc) for The Cosby Show spinoff from Seasons 2 through 5 -- even though her ex-husband Glynn Turman (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glynn_Turman) was one of the show's stars. Cosby paid tribute to Franklin (https://twitter.com/BillCosby/status/1030115834482642945) this morning, tweeting: "Aretha Franklin – I want to thank her for her wonderful voice singing the theme song of “A Different World.” She made a big, strong positive impact on that series." That prompted a Twitter backlash, with responses ranging from "Are you tweeting from jail?” to “Wifi must be good in cellblock c.”

Just how connected to the show was he? I know that Bill Cosby was credited as creator, but he also wrote zero episodes, and only appeared in three episodes from Season 1. Does he earn any money from me watching it on Amazon Prime Video for instance?

So I take it no one will be sad when he dies?

I'll just say that Bill Cosby's legacy is very complicated at this point. It's one of those cases where, can I still enjoy is comedy and stuff like The Cosby Show and Fat Albert despite him in all likelihood, being a horrible human being in his private life. I guess is one of those "can you separate the art from the artist" situations.
