I came across a 2000 sitcom named 'The Trouble With Normal'. It deals with four guys that are paranoid and their normal therapist. After watching a few episodes, I found it to be quite funny and wondered why it was cancelled after a few episodes. I found that it was considered to be one of the worst sitcoms by critics. Just one example;

"ABC has been promoting the heck out of 'The Trouble With Normal,' but the shockingly unfunny ensemble and rotten scripts will undo all that publicity in minutes. On a positive note, this will almost certainly end the TV career of Jon Cryer." — Kansas City Star

To me it started to seem similar to something other show and it finally hit me. Four weird guys (David Krumholtz, Brad Raider, Jon Cryer, Larry Joe Campbell) that drive the normal hot babe crazy (Paget Brewster). Plus the one guy, David Krumholtz starts to fall in love with Brewster. Sound familiar. Replace paranoid with scientist and therapist with waitress and this show is The Big Bang Theory. Take a look on youtube.

Yeah it sounds like prototype version of Big Bang. I watched the pilot and it was okay. Might watch the rest of the series.

I know I only watched the pilot but I feel like if the show ditched the laugh track and came out around the time shows like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Arrested Development and 30 Rock broke into the mainstream, it may have found an audience or at least a cult following.

Also, fun fact: When the crew of Spin City were looking for an actor to replace Michael J. Fox, Jon Cryer was considered. However, he suggested that Charlie Sheen should be the replacement. So, we almost got Jon Cryer on Spin City instead of Sheen.

I vaguely remember the title, but I've never seen the show. I might try to find it on YouTube and check it out.
