I still think they should have made a season 9. The season 8 ratings were #33, but maybe they would have rebounded in season 9. Three's a Crowd was #38 without 99% of the main Three's Company cast.

I believe in "Always leave them wanting more". Also, except perhaps for Joyce, I think the actors had enough and wanted to move on.

Was Three's Company the first American prime time network show (that wasn't a midseason replacement) to have its series finale aired in the fall as opposed to the spring? I always thought that it was weird that it had its series finale aired (http://www.tvtango.com/listings/1984/09/18/threes_company_1977) in late September, even though the whole intent was to more smoothly transition into Three's a Crowd (http://www.tvtango.com/listings/1984/09/25/threes_a_crowd_1984).
