In one of the Pokemon collector books I have I read that there was a banned episode that aired in Japan due to a very flashy scene that caused very bad illness including dizzy spells in people but when Pokemon made it's debut in America the flashy scene was removed from the American version of Pokemon when that episode was translated into English
Is it true?

It was never broadcasted in America because of how they were afraid it might caused seizures, much like in Japan. The episode has never even got an English translation from my knowledge.

Hi, Bestie! I heard about some nintendo games caused seizures because of flashing lights, but I never heard of a cartoon episode doing it. I blame our sissy politicians. They always fall for some old wives tale. Because I don't think Japanese are tougher than us and they never seem to be bothered by video games. What do you think?

The episode "Electric soldier Porygon" was never dubbed into English. It was broadcast on Japanese television only once. Thankfully a few people recorded it and it can be easily viewed on youtube with English subtitles. Proceed with caution if you suffer from light sensitivity.
This isnt the only episode to never make it to the US. Theres a few more as well:
-Battle of the Quaking Island: Dojoach vs Namazun!!
-Team rocket vs Team plasma
-Pikachu and Pichu
And these aired in the US but have since been banned and unavailable in home DVD sets:
-Beauty and the Beach
-the Legend of Mini ryu
-The Ice Cave
-Satoshi and Nagetukesaru! A touchdown of friendship!

The episode in question sent over 100 Japanese children to the hospital with seizures or seizure-like symptoms. The episode features rapidly flashing red & blue light, you can watch it on youtube if you are so inclined.
