This is a "special movie" to me.
It was filmed in my hometown and few surrounding towns.
It was written by a friend of ours, who was also the producer.
His name is Dr. Patrick Johnston.

Back in April 2016, he had asked our Home School Group, on our blog page,
"Would anyone like to be in a movie?"
He sent out e-mails in advance inviting anyone to come as extras, on the days that they would be filming with locations and time.
Unfortunately, for us we were doing other things while they were filming, so no we were not able to be in it.

The stars of the movie:

Kevin Sorbo
Mollee Gray
Brain Bosworth
Eric Roberts
and
The Benham Brothers

Dr Johnston and his wife Elizabeth, at the time had 8 kids with one on the way. They now have 10 kids and have moved to North Carolina as of April 2018.

......................................THE STORY................

.......................When Chaos Clashes With Faith ............

When the economy collapses, widespread rioting and looting leaves a 19-year-old lovesick girl struggling to care for her four younger siblings in a stretch of woods on the outskirts of their burning town, wondering why a good God would let this happen.

WHY DO BAD THINGS HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE?

THE RELIANT takes the hard questions head on, and answers them in a memorable, entertaining way that honors God, satisfies the conscience, and vindicates liberty.

There are 24 trailers on youtube, most a minute or less, couple that are 2 minutes or longer. If you wish to view any of the trailers,it can be found in this site below, along with things on THE CAST, THE CREW, and PRESS.

At long last

A year later than scheduled , but the movie is now been released!

What took so long?
Glad you ask.

What this movie has gone through. just to get release.

First the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) gave this film an "R" rating.
To get an "R" rating the film must contain:
Frequent strong language and frequent violence,
nudity for sexual purposes,
and drug abuse.

This movie does have some violence (but not frequent) but nothing else.

The producer (Patrick Johnston) had to raise $50,000 to appeal the rating to MPAA. The appeal took a long time, but the rating was finally dropped to a PG-13.

Next was Film distribution (all movies usually go through this process)
It is the process of making a movie available for viewing by an audience.

This movie has won several awards.

BEST OF THE FEST"

"BEST FULL FEATURE"

"BEST SCORE" - Freedom Festival International

"BEST PRODUCER(S)" - Freedom Festival International

"BEST ACTOR" - BRIAN BOSWORTH,

"BEST ACTOR" - KEVIN SORBO, Best Actor Award

United Kingdom

OVER 20 NOMINATIONS, INCLUDING NOMINATIONS FOR ACTORS MOLLEE GRAY, JULIA DENTON, BLAKE BURT, ERIC ROBERTS, BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY, BEST LIGHTING, ETC.

Even with all of these awards it has been released for one night only
October 24 7:00 PM showing only--- 735 theaters across the United States. The movie is 2 hours and 20 minutes long (140 minutes)

It is already selling out in theaters, prices for tickets that I have seen
range from $11.50 to $15.00 per ticket depending on location.
If you buy tickets online from a place called "Fathom Events" be careful there is a processing fee added to each ticket.

If the theater sells out --- they have to get "permission" to be allowed to show it again on another day.....I wonder where they have to get permission from?

It seems to me that they (who ever they are) don't want this movie to be seen. It kind of reminds me of the movie "Gosnell" starring Dean Cain that was pulled from the theaters

I made a thread on that and it can be seen here:
