The WB Fall Schedule 2002-03
Tue, May 14, 2002 09:20 AM PDT

Still pursuing the holy grail of a good comedy, The WB is stocking up with four new ones this fall and a spare for midseason.

Family Affair
Premise: An updated version of the late '60s show about a Manhattan bachelor and his proper English butler who find their lives turned upside down when they are put in charge of a teen girl and 6-year-old twins.
From What We've Seen: As Curry joked while presenting a clip from the pilot, "Buffy is back on The WB -- and this time she brought Jody with her." The update of the 1960s comedy, with Cole as Uncle Bill and Curry as the fastidious Mr. French, looks to be less treacly than its predecessor, and the single-camera format means it just plain looks nice. It's sure to score some early nostalgia points, but it'll be up to the writers not to overplay the everybody-hugs element.
Stars: Tim Curry, Gary Cole ("American Gothic"), Sasha Pieterse, Luke Benward and Caitlin Wachs ("Profiler")
Studio: Pariah and Turner Television
Producers: Bob Young, Gavin Polone, Sid & Marty Krofft and Randy Pope
