View Full Version : Garrett's Goodbyes to her Girls (all 8 of her girls)

I've long lamented the fact that Mrs. Garrett gets to say fond farewells to 4 of her girls, but not 4 from when she was a housemother. So here is a fan rendering of Mrs. Garrett getting to say goodbye to all of her girls at her wedding, using images for the other girls from 1986 for accurate potrayals, lol.

The Blair, Natalie, Tootie, and Jo moments are verbatim from the episode, and then I created my own versions of what she might say to Cindy, Sue Ann, Molly, and Nancy. It's at least a little more closure for me! lol

Lovely!

What a great "alternative Facts" moment! I like what Mrs. Garrett says to each of her girls. It's too bad she didn't stick around for just four more episodes, as she could have had that beautiful reunion with at least three more of her girls.

Thanks, yeah, this is how I picture it in my fan universe's retooled FOL with the Lost Girls all staying on board through the rest of the run. I now have 2 visuals to go with that, your "Gossip" reunion, and Mrs. Garrett's farewells.

Yeah, or too bad the writers didn't think of TLC sooner!

I'm quite fond of both of those visuals, now. I'll likely add Molly to some other episodes, too, if I get the chance. She definitely should have been the one asking about camera settings in "Pretty Babies".

Definitely!

And I still can't get over how real your image is!!

Thanks! Good thing I had a DeLorean!

Actually, what I'd like to do, time allowing, is to digitally insert video of the Lost Girls into about ten episodes of FOL, and put them on YT or DM, as a sort of "what should have been". Sue Ann and Nancy would then graduate alongside Blair and Jo, Cindy would come visit Edna's Edibles, all four girls would appear in the cafeteria, and Molly would show up at the last minute, for the "The Little Chill Out of Peekskill" three-parter.

Of course, this likely would take a lot of time. Still, I'd love to do it!

Timing-wise, I still kind of wish Mrs. Garrett's farewell were a season finale instead of a season premiere. Actually I wish it a lot.

Johnny be good!

As long as we're wishing, I'll wish she had never left.

Me too, though I do think Beverly Ann did give the show a little resurge with a new character to deal with

Well, that's a given that any fan would wish that. We're wishing on, that since it was inevitable, how it should have been handled.

No, no handling. Just Mrs. G's still there. That'd be my wish.

Yes, that's most fans' wish. We're discussing because her leaving was inevitable, how we wished it were handled.

I'll just wish it had never happened. Then there's no need for handling. Voila!

What if Mrs G had to say goodbye to Pippa? “Pippa, I signed up to take you on as an exchange student even though we didn’t have the extra room. I’m not sure most people remember you as a character on this show, but you taught me to, uh....uhhh...throw a shrimp on the barbie!”

Or Alex. “You taught me that I can face anything if I believe in myself and have faith in my friends. You’re my wings...uh, Blair, what’s this girl’s name again?...Alex...you’re my wings, Alex!”

And Kelly.

“And Kelly, you...hey! Who let you back in here??!!”

Well, though you're choosing not to address the matter, the wish she never left notwithstanding, I think you too would find Mrs. Garrett's departure more effective as a season (or series) finale than a season premiere, especially since you appreciate story and structure. I think probably most people would find it more effective as an end than a beginning.

These are hilarious, SM!

Here are some other Edna Garrett farewells we should have seen on camera:

"Brenda, I'll miss you very much. You're... you're my rock."

"Mr. Harris, I'll miss working with you. Without your support, I would really have wigged out!"

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

It's true: farewells should always be at the end.

But if we're wishing, I'll just wish there never was a farewell. Then it's better than saying goodbye to the person who never should have left.

“Emily, you’re so serious, but you always knew how to make me titter. Also, thanks for recommending your hairdresser. I made sure I never used him.”

Mrs. G: Mr. Bradley, I know we never saw eye to eye.
Mr. Bradley: And...?
Mrs. G: That’s it...

Mrs G: Andy, little Andy. You taught me it doesn’t matter how small someone is; anything is possible if ya dream big!
Andy: Ya know, you still owe me two years’ backpay.
Mrs G:Errr...hey, Bruce, is that the boat I hear?!
