In the 80's NBC launched Battlestars that was hosted by Alex Trebek and featured contestants playing with popular celebrities of the decade. Among the celebrities featured were Erik Estrada Nell Carter Richard Simmons Dick Van Patten and Gary Shandling. Battlestars also launched the career of Jerry Seinfeld when he appeared on the show. Later NBC launched The All-New Battlestars which featured the same format of Battlestars but with all new celebrities. Battlestars was also produced by Merrill-Heatter Productions and hasn't been seen in reruns since. GSN or Buzzr TV should air reruns of both versions of Battlestars because it was a fun and unique game show that celebrity fans loved

Battle stars was the first game show to use computer technology and was similar to Hollywood Squares. It was Alex Trebek's show prior to his long stint hosting Jeopardy.
