In the past, I have posted oodles of messages about the impact that "Samantha's Protest" had on me. The fact that I have gone as long as I have without writing about it is mainly because I got tired of being lectured by other posters about having beaten that topic into the ground. Just in case there is somebody here that has never read any of my previous threads about the topic, the thing about that episode that had the strongest impact on me was the secondary plot of Katie's giddiness over the handsome boy from the protest. I have compared that situation with incidents on a lot of other shows in terms of people having to deal with disappointment and having ambition that had no place to go. One such episode is from the "Honeymooners" and it is called "The Hot Dog Stand". I would consider the end of this episode to be very similar to the end of "Samantha's Protest". Well, it has been years since the W.B. 11 has broadcast syndicated episodes of "Gimme a Break!". However, one show that they still tend to dumb a lot of episodes of during slow periods is the "Honeymooners". Yesterday, there were four such episodes throughout the afternoon and evening. However, the "Hot Dog Stand" is one that I have not seen on their schedule in years! I have no idea why this could be. I have heard various stories about how there are some companies and organizations that have the rights to the original 39 episodes and others that have the rights to the un-aired episodes or episodes that were part of the "Jackie Gleason" show. If anyone here knows anything about the legal aspect of this situation, I would be very interested in hearing from you. However, the truth be heard, this thread was mainly an excuse to get in one more mention of "Samantha's Protest" and see if I would stimulate some conversation about it!
