What is it about Family Ties that makes YOU keep liking it? What is it about Family Ties that makes YOU want to see more?
For me it's just the way it's a show that you can sit down and watch to relax. It's amazing how they made episodes of serious things that were still funny.
Plus how cute Alex is. :p

I liked the show Family Ties when it used to air on Vision TV in Canada because I thought it was a really funny show. All the characters are funny in their own way. I don't usually see that sort of thing in a sitcom. Usually there are some characters that are funny, but in Family Ties, all the characters were funny. And, also because Michael J. was so cute when he was playing the role of Alex.:p:happyface

I think it's really amazing that this show is still so funny after so many years. A lot of times, you notice, in other shows, that the comedy gets old. What we percieve as funny changes over time.

But what I've noticed, is that everytime I watch an episode I still find myself cracking up. The lines are delivered so perfectly and even little things, such as a facial expression, make me love the show. And that is why I continue to tune in night after night.

i loved family ties from the first episode.

i think the reason why this show is better than the other family shows it that ALL the characters are so loveable.
even skippy is so funny and nice.

and a very big reason is that the dialogs fir so good into the story.
every punchline and every comment.

The show has every quality you'd want out of a sitcom:

Intelligent comedy, legitimate drama, laughter, tears, and it had the one intangible that all classic sitcoms have and is the very essence to why people want to still watch it today over and over again, and that's love. Love between the characters, love in the storylines and love between the actors and the viewers. These people (cast and crew) cared about what they were doing for the audience. They wanted to give the people viewing some kind of emotional feeling after an episode would end. In this case don't think of love the way we normally think about it. This type of love is a kind that connects people to the show and vice versa. This connection has to be the goal of any TV program and Family Ties met the goal beautifully. No matter what time period shows aired on TV originally, if there's love in every part of what makes up the show, then people will continue to watch for years and years. The show is a reminder of what things were like for us at that time. All human beings need nostalgia and memories in their lives and Family Ties provides that for us today.

Back in the 80's I taped every episode of this show. Those that I didn't catch on NBC I was able to catch in re-runs on our local Fox affiliate. I can't believe it's been 13 YEARS since Family Ties went away!!! And our Fox station dropped the re-runs in 1991 or 92. I just started watching the re-runs on Nick At Nite (or, should I say, "Nick In The Very Very Early Morning"), and I just realized that it's been 10 years since I've watched even a single episode of this show!

I still know almost all the jokes (especially Steven's deadpan one-liners), and I think, most importantly, I've learned from this show how to make a slick exit out of a room...

Steven: "I think I smell something burning!"
Elise: "Yeah, what is that??"
Steven: "I think it's the, uhhhh, 'thing'."
Elise: "Oh yeah, we'd better check on it. There's nothing worse than burnt 'thing'."
