Transgender activist Nicole Maines has been tapped to play Nia Nal aka Dreamer, television’s first transgender superhero, on Season 4 of The CW superhero show.

"It feels fitting to say with great power, comes great responsibility," said Maines, who was featured on the HBO documentary The Trans List. She added: "We’ve had trans representation in television for a while but it hasn’t been the right representation.”

CW’s Supergirl (http://forums.previously.tv/topic/90593-s04e11-blood-memory/?do=getLastComment) has promised to debut the first transgender superhero on television, and now we’ve reached the cusp of that character's origin story. To absolutely no one’s surprise, it’s deluded, self-righteous, and more than a little confusing. But that’s what you get when pretending a man has the superpower to transform into a woman.
