Dietland star Robin Weigert, who played Calamity Jane on the HBO drama, tells the Los Angeles Times (http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/tv/la-et-st-robin-weigert-20180720-story.html) that there's a "90 percent chance" the movie begins filming this fall. "It’s safe enough to say it’s happening this fall,” says Weigert, pointing out that much of the cast has signed on for the movie and sets are "being built."

"Deadwood" Gets Greenlight with October Production Start, Possible Spring 2019 Launch – TCA
by Anthony D'Alessandro
July 25, 2018
HBO president Casey Bloys rejoiced to the TCA press corps this morning that the next installment of "Deadwood" is finally greenlighted with an October production start, which is what he forecasted at January’s TCA.
He guessed there might be a spring 2019 debut but didn’t want to make that part official this morning, “Let’s get cameras rolling,” he said. "Game of Thrones" episodic director Dan Minahan is directing.
When asked where the next phase of "Deadwood" would pick up, Bloys was mum.
ears ago, creator David Milch hinted that a fourth season would have focused on some historical events that occurred in the western town, i.e. a huge fire, a plague outbreak with saloon kingpin Al Swearingin fleeing on a barge down the river.
“It has been a logistical nightmare getting it together,” said Bloys in regards to casting, etc.

Robin Weigart previews her return as Calamity Jane for Deadwood movie (http://ew.com/tv/2018/07/25/for-robin-weigert-upcoming-deadwood-movie-is-making-for-a-spectacular-moment/)
This morning's Deadwood movie announcement (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/deadwood-movie-is-finally-happening-at-hbo-1129743) was "such a spectacular moment," says Weigart, who played Calamity Jane. She hasn't seen a script, but she did talk to creator David Milch. Although Calamity Jane reportedly died penniless, Weigart says, "Jane is not at the end in the story we’re telling. Her passion and compassion will still be leading her.” ALSO: Read the decade-plus timeline of the Deadwood movie development.
