RetroGuy2000 07-26-2018, 09:30 PM loved blair's hair anyone else
Blair had lovely hair in the late 1970s and up to (about) 1984. During the late '80s, though, something bizarre happened, and Blair's hair suffered greatly from huge amounts of hairspray... as did the ozone layer. Three species went extinct every time her hairdresser opened a new can of AquaNet.
RetroGuy2000 07-26-2018, 09:37 PM Another lounge door-opening. :)
And look, why, it's the very same coffee shop we saw just one episode earlier!
Or wait, no it's not---I guess the set decorator covering up "Darlows" over "Coffee Shop" makes it a completely different establishment.
Haha! Yep, same place! Good eye!
Why does it look like the door from the lounge to outside has been bricked over?!?! That looks so weird.
RetroGuy2000 07-26-2018, 09:43 PM Becker's kitchen!
-
That wallpaper is unbelievable!
...Or is it wallpaper, or is it an intricate white trellis with blue wallpaper behind it? I feel like I'm watching Tron while looking at it.
RetroGuy2000 07-26-2018, 09:53 PM To me, in some ways this coffee shop and that disgusting motel room in "Teenage Marriage" have a bit of an Alice vibe to them.
Well, the coffee shop could double for the Alice diner, with some changes.
I see what you mean about the motel room. Alice and Tommy lived at a motel for a while. Not sure how long. But I bet Alice never made Tommy lie on a blanket as disgusting as the one in "Teenage Marriage"!
'80sSitcoms 07-26-2018, 10:04 PM Why does it look like the door from the lounge to outside has been bricked over?!?! That looks so weird.
lol, because of the angle---I saw that too, and it was weirding me out! But you see Mrs. Garrett open the door, and the brick wall looks normal. For some reason in this moment, it gives that optical illusion of facing the doorway, lol.
That wallpaper is unbelievable!

lol, right?? I was going to comment on this too...actually, I don't see it as wallpaper or a trellis; I see it is all ceramic. That may not make sense and I'm sure it's not realistic, but that's just how it "reads" to me. But it is definitely the bluest and most geometrical kitchen I have ever seen! lol
RetroGuy2000 07-26-2018, 11:48 PM lol, because of the angle---I saw that too, and it was weirding me out! But you see Mrs. Garrett open the door, and the brick wall looks normal. For some reason in this moment, it gives that optical illusion of facing the doorway, lol.
YES! The angle is just... wrong. I'm glad I'm not the only one weirded out by that.
Everything about that brick wall feels weird, from its indoor-to-outdoor change, to this bizarre angle change. Is it really an optical illusion, or did they do a brief second take, and decided to push the brick wall up against the door because... because the area immediately behind that door was being used for another show on the Metromedia lot? That's lame, but I don't understand how else we would see the bricks from that angle.
Anyway, thanks for that bizarre screenshot!

Haha! I can see what you mean about it all possibly being ceramic. It could be.
I actually think the blue is very beautiful. But I can't imagine being in that kitchen every day: you'd get bars and spots in your vision from the afterimage caused by the vivid contrast of the blue and white grids and patterns on every freaking surface.
'80sSitcoms 07-27-2018, 12:44 AM YES! The angle is just... wrong. I'm glad I'm not the only one weirded out by that.

You're welcome for that filling your dreams now. Maybe watching that angle in actual footage might help, I dunno; we'll just have to try it and see, lol.
Actually, upon closer inspection, if you'll notice in that screenshot, it looks like the upper bricks are more "flat" against the side where they should be, but the bricks further down by Natalie seem to be facing in towards the doorway; odd opticals!
I have to say, I love that our lounge door has two incarnations: first an indoor hall, second an opening to the outside world. Just the fact that it's been both makes me love it so much!
I actually think the blue is very beautiful. But I can't imagine being in that kitchen every day: you'd get bars and spots in your vision from the afterimage caused by the vivid contrast of the blue and white grids and patterns on every freaking surface.
Exactly! It looks really neat, but WHOA, lol...perhaps the harshness of looking around that kitchen is what has put such a hard pea under Dina Becker's 20 mattresses? And perhaps caused Hildy to make up that whole tooth story just to get the heck outta there for an hour or two?
'80sSitcoms 07-27-2018, 09:04 AM Why do the girls have a poster in their room that you would usually find in classrooms or school hallways? lol

'80sSitcoms 07-27-2018, 09:08 AM I see what you mean about the motel room. Alice and Tommy lived at a motel for a while. Not sure how long. But I bet Alice never made Tommy lie on a blanket as disgusting as the one in "Teenage Marriage"!
If she had, he would've been taken away from her! lol...actually I think in the movie ADLHA they lived at a motel for a while, but in the TV show they were already in their apartment and Alice working at Mel's Diner in the first episode. But for some reason that grungy Peekskill hotel set reminds me of Alice's apartment; I guess because I feel that whole "late '70s-turning-to-'80" feel when I look at both sets.
'80sSitcoms 07-27-2018, 09:09 AM Blair has really changed up the visuals on her wall---with nary a bearded wildman to be found!
-
'80sSitcoms 07-27-2018, 09:11 AM A Marx Brothers poster for Natalie, some other guy by her bed (and you'll notice now she and Tootie are sleeping with their heads up by the window; those girls like to change it up a lot, lol), and a look at Natalie's trunk.

'80sSitcoms 07-27-2018, 11:31 AM Jo's cousin Terri's bedroom---oh and look, SHE HAS A GLOBE. lol...apparently a black one!
It also looks like they managed to locate one other dartboard.

'80sSitcoms 07-27-2018, 11:55 AM Oo, this is the most of the lounge we've seen from a cafeteria shot...
-
'80sSitcoms 07-27-2018, 11:58 AM Oo, this is very rare...I can't recall another scene where they used this table right inside the entrance for one of their scenes, as opposed to the ones further downstage they usually use:
-
'80sSitcoms 07-27-2018, 12:01 PM There's that beautiful Peekskill morning light filtering through those beautiful cafeteria windows :)
-
'80sSitcoms 07-27-2018, 12:08 PM And the lobby of the auditorium...
-
RetroGuy2000 07-27-2018, 12:25 PM Why do the girls have a poster in their room that you would usually find in classrooms or school hallways? lol
-
Because it's a mandatory poster, placed there by Mr. Parker or Mr. Harris.
You can tell because next to that poster is another poster with the dorm rules, even though they're not actually in the dorms. These would have been rules like "no cooking in dorm rooms", "no alcohol", etc.
Hey! Tootie's (white) skates are in that same screenshot!

Ahhhh, so that explains why Tootie was "dorm monitor" when she was living over the cafeteria.
Hey! Tootie's (white) skates are in that same screenshot!
Of course they are, they're their all the time! Well maybe not every episode, but they are frequently hanging on the coat rack---have you never noticed them before, like Señor Tiger?
'80sSitcoms 07-27-2018, 12:48 PM Fantasy season 2-4 credits!

RetroGuy2000 07-27-2018, 01:00 PM Jo's cousin Terri's bedroom---oh and look, SHE HAS A GLOBE. lol...apparently a black one!
Haha! Nice find! I'm not even surprised anymore. Apparently, whenever a set looked empty somehow, the set decorator took the initiative to add a globe. I suspect s/he got them on discount by buying in bulk!
It also looks like they managed to locate one other dartboard.

Ooh, a different one!

I'm sure I noticed them before, but they stuck out there, so I had to point them out.
I definitely never noticed Señor Tiger before you mentioned him.

Ahh...yeah, they're kinda hard to miss, especially since it's in the back of a fan's mind she used to skate in season 1, lol.
I definitely never noticed Señor Tiger before you mentioned him.
I'm glad you're getting to know him now!

RetroGuy2000 07-27-2018, 01:14 PM There's that beautiful Peekskill morning light filtering through those beautiful cafeteria windows :)

Since the light is filtering through from the right, we can infer that the cafeteria faces north.
This might be one of the few times when we can place the direction an Eastland building sits!

Good point, or perhaps even northeast...or north-northeast, lol.

Ahahahah!!!! Most excellent! I didn't laugh as hard as I did when you doctored up "Creepy Stranger's" and "Linda Ronstadt's" credits, but I still laughed pretty hard.
RetroGuy2000 07-27-2018, 01:22 PM Good point, or perhaps even northeast...or north-northeast, lol.
I thought about that, but we also see afternoon light coming from the other way, right?

I thought about that, but we also see afternoon light coming from the other way, right?
Hmm, it's definitely possible.
RetroGuy2000 07-27-2018, 01:36 PM And as for the name, I decided to pick one relevant to these boards, lol.
Ah, understood. Well, the '80s definitely had some of the best sitcoms ever, so I think you chose very well!
...Then again, I might be a bit biased, having grown up in that era, and spending a great deal of time watching sitcoms. At the time that I was watching the 1982 season of FOL, I had no idea I was living just 38 minutes from the school the show was based on (just as when I was watching "Hey Dude" in the late '80s/early '90s, that I would move out to that area just five years later).
I think these screenshots show just how much viewers are oblivious to things: things we never noticed, things we should have noticed, things the show's cast and crew should have noticed, etc.

Very cool!

It's amazing the things you do see while watching, even when you've seen them over and over, and things you would never see if you didn't freeze these moments in time! lol
RetroGuy2000 07-27-2018, 02:00 PM Done and done! I had a bad experience back in 1998. Say no more!
It's amazing the things you do see while watching, even when you've seen them over and over, and things you would never see if you didn't freeze these moments in time! lol
Totally!
I have really found myself marveling at all the creative things the show's creators did while making this series: the small details like the DS cast photo on Mrs. G's wall, the stuffed animal continuity between seasons, etc. (And also marveling at all the weird things, like the weird door and wall they put between the lounge and the cafeteria that is there, then missing, then there, then missing. Or the bizarre brick wall of weirdness).
'80sSitcoms 07-27-2018, 02:05 PM (the weird door and wall they put between the lounge and the cafeteria that is there, then missing, then there, then missing. Or the bizarre brick wall of weirdness).
Hahaha....well you know, I'm wondering if the added wall with the allegedly swinging door between the cafeteria and the lounge was an idea the producers/director just thought up and decided to try, and then quickly abandoned? Because, if you'll notice---as I have noticed, thanks only to screencapping! lol---it is only present in two episodes, and two consecutive episodes: "Legacy" and "Green-Eyed Monster". It makes me wonder if they thought it would be nice, added it in L, but after GEM either realized, "Eh, it's not really working", or perhaps they got audience feedback that they didn't like it, having the lounge blocked off that way? Who knows...it's really neat to notice it, but I'm very glad it was for "a limited time only!"
Either that, or, perhaps Warren Littlefield attended GEM's taping and declared there were "3, 5 doors in that cafeteria"---so they had to cut down. ;)

No, weirdly enough, I also see that door and wall in "Gossip". So this was something they used in more than one season. See screenshot below.

Haha!
But look!:
'80sSitcoms 07-27-2018, 02:54 PM Whoa! That is really weird! lol
Maybe they put it up in "Gossip" so in case Warren Littlefield walked onto the lounge set, he couldn't see all those "10, 12 girls" ;)

Heh!
I now suspect that wall must be an event wall used to partition event spaces for caterings and parties. It's seen in multiple seasons, though inconsistently, so it must have been placed and then moved repeatedly, for some reason.
I suspect it might have been put up when they have a fancy dinner where the attendees would not have wanted to see a lounge area in their fancy dining hall. It's possible that the wall is a sliding pocket wall (https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRVezx8fSWjZIHfAxZ1c3aw64x54O5QJYM0zkXH5QyaV3NUMUHxwg), which is why the door in the wall has no doorknob: if it did, you couldn't slide the wall in all the way.
I think this is also why we see a wall on the other side of the pillar (the "phone pillar") in some episodes.

Could be!

lol, yup. But it seems silly to have it up in "Gossip", because they hadn't even mailed out the 1,000 invitations yet! (can they even fit 1,000 people in that cafeteria?? )

Is it? Is it really possible? I say no, because the square pillar the one the pay phone is mounted on is clearly a square pillars therefore nothing could slide into it (nor on the other side; screenshot below for looks at both sides of the arch). If they want to block the lounge off, they have to squeeze something in there, which is just silly architecture, lol. Now if they had made pocket doors (or even walls!) that could slide into existing larger walls, that would have been cool too.
I think this is also why we see a wall on the other side of the pillar (the "phone pillar") in some episodes.
So far it's only in 1 episode that we can see.

No. No way. Even The Facts of Life Reunion scene, which shows a little added space on the south side, doesn't have the capability to seat 1000, even if the lounge area is used.
I think that cafeteria could hold a maximum of 200.

Thanks for the screenshot. Well, okay, no pocket doors, but then we're left with either:
1) They were squeezing partition walls behind the arches to block off those areas on at least two occasions across two seasons, which seems like a lot of work
2) Eastland was constantly being remodeled and re-remodeled randomly.
'80sSitcoms 07-27-2018, 04:07 PM I think they maybe just liked the look of it very randomly, and didn't want us (the audience) to think about it! lol
I also wondered if a certain director liked that wall and insisted on installing it, but G, L, and GEM were all directed by 3 different directors!
RetroGuy2000 07-27-2018, 10:48 PM I think they maybe just liked the look of it very randomly, and didn't want us (the audience) to think about it! lol
But who builds random walls --twice-- and expects the audience to not notice?!
I also wondered if a certain director liked that wall and insisted on installing it, but G, L, and GEM were all directed by 3 different directors!
Well, that was a good theory, while it lasted.
I was so bothered I wrote a limerick.
'80sSitcoms 07-30-2018, 04:32 PM But who builds random walls --twice-- and expects the audience to not notice?!
lol, well I would think they didn't built it twice, just once, then only used it once in season 2 (why??), then hauled it off stage only to use for 2 consecutive episodes in season 3, when it was hauled off for good (again, why??? lol)
Well, that was a good theory, while it lasted.
Wasn't it though? It was an EXCELLENT theory! And it lasted about 7 seconds while I Googled the episode list!
I was so bothered I wrote a limerick.
Ha! The new relaxation technique, lol.
Are you going to to that also whenever you get angry? If so, that could be your "thing"! --- "Cindy always jumps rope when she gets mad! I wash my hair, Tootie oils her wheels, Molly chews on pencils, RetroGuy2000 writes limericks, what do you do?"
RetroGuy2000 07-30-2018, 07:31 PM lol, well I would think they didn't built it twice, just once, then only used it once in season 2 (why??), then hauled it off stage only to use for 2 consecutive episodes in season 3, when it was hauled off for good (again, why??? lol)
Yes, exactly that! It's just weird.

Haha! Cute!
It's too bad we never got to see Molly chew on some pencils. That would have been a cool little piece of continuity on a character who could have been fleshed out more.

lol, true, and you know what always intrigued and bothered me about that line? What do the OTHER girls do when they're mad?? Natalie clues us in on what over half of the girls do, but what about Nancy*? What about Blair? What about Sue Ann? What do they do when they get mad??
*Nancy tries to think but gets flustered suddenly realizing it doesn't matter at the moment, and I know what you're gonna say RetroGuy, "We do know what Nancy does, Nancy straightens things when she gets mad! :)" However, my quibble with that assumed (by me, lol) argument is that Nancy doesn't say she straightens things when she gets mad, she says she straightens things when she gets upset. There's a difference, so she may do something else when she gets mad---or, she may do the same thing! But we're not told for sure.
Anyway, yes, it always bugged me that Natalie didn't tell us what the other girls did, and that Nancy was thinking about it but didn't tell us what she did, yet, at the same time, so cool and character-centric that we do learn what 4 of the girls do when they get mad! :)

Well, you're right; there's a difference between "upset" and "mad", but there is some overlap. I'm satisfied that we know something Nancy might do in a situation that makes her mad.

We also know something else Cindy might do, based on that episode and what she says to Willis at the slumber party in Manhattan: the same thing Jo does, several times (to Blair, to Margo, to random other people...)
'80sSitcoms 07-30-2018, 09:47 PM But we know what Sue Ann does when she gets mad:
Haha! lol...that was an extreme situation, though; if Cindy "regularly" jumps rope when she gets mad, I bet (and hope!) Sue Ann has something else she routinely does when she gets mad, lol.

RetroGuy2000 07-31-2018, 01:57 AM No, it was Blair who pied Margo back to Fargo!
'80sSitcoms 07-31-2018, 11:56 AM Exactly, which is why I wasn't following you, lol.
'80sSitcoms 07-31-2018, 12:53 PM As of the season 4 premiere, there is now a notices board over toward the basement door, and some "new" pictures by the windows back there.
Also, they have now gone to solid paper towels, sans designs, lol.

'80sSitcoms 07-31-2018, 12:56 PM 3 plaques have now been added by the split board back there off the beaten path...
-
'80sSitcoms 07-31-2018, 12:57 PM I wonder whatever happened to this shirt!
-
'80sSitcoms 07-31-2018, 01:01 PM Wow, at this angle you can see almost all the way to the basement!

RetroGuy2000 07-31-2018, 01:04 PM I wonder whatever happened to this shirt!

I don't know, but you can get your own (https://store.nixonfoundation.org/collections/apparel/products/1968-collection-nixons-the-one-shirt)!
'80sSitcoms 07-31-2018, 01:05 PM Oo, Blair has a new smaller poster by her New Yorker, and Tootie has replaced her Jim Henson poster/s with this "Maison Naive" one...but when I Google it for more info, all I get are French results!
Also, Tootie now has a wicker shelf/holder on her wall---I never noticed this before!
-
RetroGuy2000 07-31-2018, 01:06 PM Also, they have now gone to solid paper towels, sans designs, lol.
-
Well, I expect that might change, later in the season... I guess we'll see!
'80sSitcoms 07-31-2018, 01:11 PM I don't know, but you can get your own (https://store.nixonfoundation.org/collections/apparel/products/1968-collection-nixons-the-one-shirt)!
Haha! Thanks, but no thanks!
'80sSitcoms 07-31-2018, 01:43 PM Blair now has some smaller prints above her bed...and this time, nary a bearded woodsman in sight! lol
-
'80sSitcoms 07-31-2018, 02:27 PM A look at some subtle touches in Mrs. Garrett's room...(I have that friend of mine working on identifying this new photo on Mrs. G's wall; I hope to have a name here very soon)
Look, Mrs. G has her two kitty pillows sharing the chair between her bed and her window, lol.
And Mr. Parker! I forgot he ever came up here! I remembered Mr. Harris coming into Mrs. Garrett's room, but I forgot ol' Charles did, too.
-
'80sSitcoms 07-31-2018, 02:30 PM Retro, here are your sunlight rays from the other side, seen in the kitchen; however, I'm not sure what time of day this is (I'm not watching the episodes when I get my screencaps); so this could be morning, or afternoon?
-
'80sSitcoms 07-31-2018, 05:04 PM It's the Eastland library! The new one that Blair's bigot grandfather financed! lol
Somewhere near the entrance there's a "B.W." forever etched. :)
-
'80sSitcoms 07-31-2018, 05:05 PM A few photographs on the lounge board! And one is a child sitting on Santa's lap!
-
'80sSitcoms 07-31-2018, 05:19 PM Oh wow! Natalie has a Wizard of Oz poster next to her Marx Brothers one! I never noticed! (well, it's hardly ever visible I guess, but still, I never noticed! lol)
-
'80sSitcoms 07-31-2018, 05:31 PM And the lovely Green home :)

RetroGuy2000 07-31-2018, 08:14 PM It's the Eastland library! The new one that Blair's bigot grandfather financed! lol
I see Miss Muldoon and her staff have done a good job making sure all the books are tagged with the Dewey Decimal catalog tags! (By Season Three, "Moosejaw" Muldoon had gone from being a teacher to being the school librarian).
IRL, someone had to add all those tags to each book. Sounds like a lot of work for the production assistants!
RetroGuy2000 07-31-2018, 08:17 PM A few photographs on the lounge board! And one is a child sitting on Santa's lap!

Good eye! Another one almost looks like a photo of... Jacqueline Kennedy?
RetroGuy2000 07-31-2018, 08:22 PM A look at some subtle touches in Mrs. Garrett's room...(I have that friend of mine working on identifying this new photo on Mrs. G's wall; I hope to have a name here very soon)
Look, Mrs. G has her two kitty pillows sharing the chair between her bed and her window, lol.

Yep! As you've observed, we see the cat pillows (both the original and her tanner friend) are still in Edna's room, although they've been moved to a chair near the bed. It would be interesting to see how long those last. Will Edna take them with her to Africa? The suspense!
RetroGuy2000 07-31-2018, 08:27 PM It's the Eastland library!

Hey! Notice the bust above the top library stack shelf? It's hard to tell, but that might be a previously-used bust of a musician.
RetroGuy2000 07-31-2018, 08:36 PM I'm glad they stuck with one Evie Green across all three seasons they showed her. We definitely wouldn't want a Prototype Evie situation!
'80sSitcoms 07-31-2018, 10:07 PM I see Miss Muldoon and her staff have done a good job making sure all the books are tagged with the Dewey Decimal catalog tags! (By Season Three, "Moosejaw" Muldoon had gone from being a teacher to being the school librarian).
Wow, so she changed from teacher to librarian within the same season, because in season 3's "Mind Your Own Business" she was a teacher.
IRL, someone had to add all those tags to each book. Sounds like a lot of work for the production assistants!
Either that, or else they bought discarded ones from a library.
'80sSitcoms 07-31-2018, 10:09 PM Good eye! Another one almost looks like a photo of... Jacqueline Kennedy?
Too hard to tell...I wonder if it's a inside joke that it's someone's mother, or a lady who works on the show?
Hey! Notice the bust above the top library stack shelf? It's hard to tell, but that might be a previously-used bust of a musician.
Dang, now look who's got the good eye!! Yeah we can't tell with only that lower part visible, but it does stand a good chance it's a season 1 refugee!
RetroGuy2000 07-31-2018, 10:18 PM Wow, so she changed from teacher to librarian within the same season, because in season 3's "Mind Your Own Business" she was a teacher.
She must have left that position near the end of the year, then. By Season 3, episode 24, "Read No Evil", she has become the school librarian.
Either that, or else they bought discarded ones from a library.
That's possible, too!
'80sSitcoms 07-31-2018, 10:18 PM I'm glad they stuck with one Evie Green across all three seasons they showed her. We definitely wouldn't want a Prototype Evie situation!
Haha, yeah, she's only seen a few times, but it's nice that she is good continuity when she is seen.
And "Dearest Mommie" I do believe is the episode that deeply touches me, and chokes me up, more than any other episode across 9 seasons. Natalie's not my favorite girl, and I don't even have a personal connection to adoption at all, but I just get so washed over with emotion at the end of this show. When Natalie and her mother have made up, and are sitting on the couch chatting in such a casual, familial mother/daughter way, and the camera slowly pans in framing the framed photo between them on that table behind the couch, and we hear Natalie and her mom bonding through the sharing in their chat as our view is focused on a photograph of Natalie and her mother, holding each other and smiling so big, clearly connecting on a plane of pure, happy, unbreakable love as mother and daughter in that moment, captured for all time in immortality...that 15 or so seconds of that, ending the show, just gets to my heart and sends such an emotional surge through me. There is just something so perfect about witnessing that "live" bonding between them while we see a frozen moment of just how strong their mother/daughter love it at the same time. It is perhaps the most perfect ending of any episode in this series.
One thing I love and respect so much about this final act, at the Green home, is the utter honesty they showed (of course, par for the course for this show!). The "fact" that they showed Evie snap at Natalie, "No, I don't wanna hear another word about it!"---and then reel around in shame, apology, and love, saying "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to react like that", and then Natalie a bit stung and regretful shrinking back with, "I shouldn't have told you", and Evie supporting and encouraging her with maternal warmth with "Yes, you should! I'm your mother!"---the writing, direction, and acting in those moments are simply brilliant.
RetroGuy2000 07-31-2018, 11:10 PM Dang, now look who's got the good eye!! Yeah we can't tell with only that lower part visible, but it does stand a good chance it's a season 1 refugee!
Luckily, Leo is very tall, and I was able to find an angle where we see much of the bust. And... it's a bust: the bust appears to be Greco-Roman, rather than of a classical composer.
I also discovered that Roy (and Leo) work for the DeForest Bakery, based on what his jacket says. In some later episodes, this would be spelled De Forrest Bakery (http://www.angelfire.com/80s/eastlandacademy/ediblesera.html). There actually is a DeForest Drive just south of Peekskill, near the suburb of Cortlandt. No bakery there, but still a kinda cool name connection!

I will definitely look out for this one, on my re-watch!

-
'80sSitcoms 08-01-2018, 10:58 AM Garo's garage in Peekskill...and they really made it look a lot different than Jo's uncle's garage!
Also, with this being 1982 and Jo's boyfriend's name Doug, I think they should have had Jo have a sticker somewhere that says "I Dig Doug"---get it? The early '80s? "Dig Dug"? :D

Of course they do!
What is the globe count at, now, anyway?
1. The blue globe on the grandfather clock
2. The other blue globe on the grandfather clock
3. The antique globe on the grandfather clock
4. The globe in the dorm
5. The small globe in the classroom
6. The black globe
7. The globe in the restaurant
8. The globe in the Greens' house
...Which ones am I forgetting? I know there were 10, 12 globes...
RetroGuy2000 08-01-2018, 01:18 PM Garo's garage in Peekskill...and they really made it look a lot different than Jo's uncle's garage!
Cool! I also like how they made it feel well-worn. Like the wooden post that has wear spots on it. And the grease and oil stains everywhere.

The globe in Mrs. Garrett's room!
And the most famous one of all, "Nancy's globe"!
There really are too many globes, because I can't remember where we saw the black one! (I remember how unique it was, but I forgot where it was!)
'80sSitcoms 08-01-2018, 01:30 PM Cool! I also like how they made it feel well-worn. Like the wooden post that has wear spots on it. And the grease and oil stains everywhere.
Yup, you can smell the motor oil just by looking at Garo's garage and Jo's uncle's garage, lol. That reminds me, I think it was maybe on a sitcom, I can't remember for sure, but several years ago there was something where a character mentioned something that had a manly scent, and another character wondered with doubtful curiosity, "What's a 'manly scent'?" and the first one said "Motor oil and feet".
Cute! I guess they didn't think of it.
Oo, they should have had her say it---"I dig Doug!" Ha! That would've been a great '80s verbal Easter egg.

How could I have forgotten (#9) Nancy's globe, the most famous of all the Peekskill globes?! And of course (#10) Garrett's globe.
I think the black globe was on the Tootie's aunt interracial marriage spin-off, with Richard Dean Anderson. Ooh... subtext? Well, maybe not, but maybe worth exploring.
It's kinda weird that there wasn't a globe in the Eastland library, where you would definitely expect a globe.

Aha! I found it! (thank goodness for the "Search This Thread" feature!) It wasn't in B&S, it was in Jo's cousin Terri's room!
But B&S did have a black sewing machine.
It's kinda weird that there wasn't a globe in the Eastland library, where you would definitely expect a globe.
Well, oddly enough, we only saw a kind of cramped corner/row of that library. It would be nice if we could have seen the whole big beautiful library; too bad the students didn't stage a sit-in in "Read No Evil"!
'80sSitcoms 08-01-2018, 01:44 PM Haha! And true.

Nice catch! I always get a kick out of the lame "brands" US shows use. "Beer" brand beer, "Cola" brand cola. A really common one for a while was "Shasa" (https://therealfullhousereviewed.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/screen-shot-2013-03-19-at-1-54-57-am.png) soda. I also recall the "Vista" credit card, etc.

Yup, I just saw "Vista" recently.

'80sSitcoms 08-01-2018, 04:09 PM Regarding Mrs. Garrett's wall, when my friend was relaying to me why Churchill in her opinion was a jerk, she did have this to say:
"Also, it is exceptionally amusing that he's placed on the wall next to Gandhi, considering that he HATED Gandhi"
hahaha...maybe the set dresser had a sense of humor!
She also said, "but because he gave some good speeches and was PM at a time when literal Hitler was running around, he gets an easy pass. But he wasn't perfect and he had some pretty troubling views. In short, I wouldn't put him on my wall."
And yes, that is indeed MLK on her wall:
-
'80sSitcoms 08-01-2018, 04:14 PM Well I thought the Sadie Hawkins dance episode wouldn't have anything interesting to yield, but boy, was I wrong!
First, take a look at these rare kitchen angles (that first one's a beaut---and it doesn't look the basement stairs would be very roomy at all!) :

'80sSitcoms 08-01-2018, 04:15 PM Hey girls! You're out of paper towels!
-
'80sSitcoms 08-01-2018, 04:18 PM 1) The pastry vending machine has visual samples!
2) The cafeteria entry hall has a "trophy shelf"! (Cindy must really have been at the top of her game the last season, haha)
3) The lounge door still leads outside, but it's been adorned with academic greenery, and the brick wall does seem to be placed out there at an angle just as a backdrop---odd!
-
'80sSitcoms 08-01-2018, 04:44 PM And now she has her photo with the Drummonds proudly displayed by her door!

You don't remember the commercials Charlotte Rae would do for Stuffin' Brand Stuffing? They were really popular in the 1980s! They did so well that they inspired all sorts of copycat commercials. I can't believe you don't remember this!
Here's a screenshot to jog your memory:

That means that hallway has gone through at least three iterations in three seasons: first the long, white hallway that led north, then the brick corridor that also went north, now the brick courtyard that goes east instead of north. I wonder why they kept changing it?
At least now it has some ivy on it, so it looks like it's outdoors.
RetroGuy2000 08-01-2018, 05:51 PM First, take a look at these rare kitchen angles (that first one's a beaut---and it doesn't look the basement stairs would be very roomy at all!) :
I noticed this on the episode where they drink: when the girls come upstairs from the basement, it's almost as if they were squeezing out of that space: each one of them moves her arms as if she had been holding her arm in place in order to get through a rather narrow area.
'80sSitcoms 08-01-2018, 09:50 PM 2 minor adjustments to this thread:
1) I noted in the very first post that this thread is going, basically, chronologically through the cafeteria seasons. I didn't want anyone to see this thread and feel overwhelmed at dozens and dozens of pages of hundreds and hundreds of posts and feel scared to come in, lol.
2) I totally forgot (and no one here caught) that the boys' school episodes during these years are in fact not at Bates Academy, but they're at Stone Military Academy. I went and changed the name to the correct Stone Military Academy (which makes it even more curious that they never showed the oft-mentioned, yet never-seen Bates Academy down the road).

'80sSitcoms 08-02-2018, 10:25 AM A split board, plaques, plants in the window, pictures, a pushpin board...man, that wall off the beaten path back there has really blossomed over the last few seasons.

I think it's the same place, but with a name change, much like Eastlake/Eastland.

'80sSitcoms 08-02-2018, 10:33 AM Hahaha! I never noticed this "homage" to "Running" before! Couldn't you just hear Jo going, "Tootie, you click that shutter and die!" lol...they should have used that line as an inside nod to charter fans from season 1. :)
(and I totally forgot Blair ever gave Jo a makeover, haha)

It sure has!
I like to imagine Edna gradually putting homey touches to that area, once she's finished decorating other areas of the building. Obviously, her bedroom, the kitchen, cafeteria and lounge were priorities, but eventually, she would branch out into other areas. We saw this as well, in the upstairs hallway. She might have even decorated the mysterious room beyond the door! ...Which, admittedly, is probably just a closet.
It's even possible that Howard helped decorate, during the early phases, since we don't know exactly when he left. BTW, speaking of Howard, did you know he and Edna dated while he was at Eastland? Edna casually mentions this to the girls in "A Woman's Place", and my mind was blown as much as the girls'.

It's possible, but I would doubt it; he doesn't seem the type.
BTW, speaking of Howard, did you know he and Edna dated while he was at Eastland? Edna casually mentions this to the girls in "A Woman's Place", and my mind was blown as much as the girls'.
Yup! I too was aghast! lol..."You dated Howard?? OUR Howard?? "
I think the funniest is when Blair gets caught up like the younger girls and says with disbelief, "Right here in our own kitchen??"

'80sSitcoms 08-02-2018, 12:49 PM Whoa! I totally forgot we saw a classroom in this episode! Wow, the 2nd time in class in 3 seasons!
(nice recycling and re-arranging as well, lol)
-
'80sSitcoms 08-02-2018, 12:50 PM I also forgot we saw the replacement teacher, Ms. Ann Barnett.
And look, Blair's wearing her "Chad blouse" again!
-
'80sSitcoms 08-02-2018, 01:00 PM And again!
And ya know what? One of the girls even says in the Chad episode, after he expresses his displeasure at her yellow blouse on her, that Blair "went into her closet and threw out everything that was yellow!" Well apparently she dived into the trash to retrieve this one!
-
'80sSitcoms 08-02-2018, 01:24 PM Whoa! You can see a building right up near the cafeteria! I never noticed that!

'80sSitcoms 08-02-2018, 03:23 PM The mixing up of the beds! Jo in Blair's, Blair in Jo's, and Natalie sharing Tootie's!
Even though Jo is my least favorite of the main 4, she always manages to really crack me up with certain moments; and one of them is this: " [apprehensive sniff]...Perfumed sheets??"

RetroGuy2000 08-02-2018, 10:29 PM Hmm, looks some sort of big plants or something back there by the basement door...

That's an interesting angle. I don't think we ever saw down that far before.
Not sure what that is. The thing on the right could be a plant... but it looks to me like it's sitting on a black cart. Why block the basement door like that, unless the cart-and-plant weren't meant to be seen?
RetroGuy2000 08-02-2018, 10:33 PM The girls' window actually open!
Of course the window opens! How else would the squirrel get in?
And in the 3rd photo, season 1 fans, Blair is reciting the poem "The Moon", by none other than...Emily Dickinson!

Nice shout-out to the first season! :D
And a great little piece of continuity: Blair is a fan of Emily Dickinson's poems.

Those were actually very popular in California in the late 1970s/early 1980s.
Thank god they didn't stay in that fleabag motel from TM! That blanket on the bed alone... *shudders*
And Tootie's long-lost brother!!!!
RetroGuy2000 08-02-2018, 10:48 PM Whoa! I totally forgot we saw a classroom in this episode! Wow, the 2nd time in class in 3 seasons!
I hadn't forgotten about this classroom scene, but yes: having just two classroom scenes in three years is... mind-boggling.
(nice recycling and re-arranging as well, lol)
-
Yep. It's nice to see that Mr. Gideon's classroom/Mr. Parker's office found work after Season Three.
They moved the windows that were in the front of the classroom to the side wall, and moved the wall with the chalkboard over to the front wall. But the back door and window are still the same, and the front bookshelves are also the same. They did add some nice bookshelves in the back of the room, too, though: that's new. And one of those old-school (literally) film projectors.
Nice shot of the locker bay just outside the door!
RetroGuy2000 08-02-2018, 11:01 PM It's possible, but I would doubt it; he doesn't seem the type.
It's my theory -- unproven, of course -- that it was Howard who hung the pots and pans from the ceiling and above the doorways. He was extremely tall and could reach them, while Mrs. Garrett had to use a stepladder.
Yup! I too was aghast! lol..."You dated Howard?? OUR Howard?? "
Hahaha! Yep!
I think the funniest is when Blair gets caught up like the younger girls and says with disbelief, "Right here in our own kitchen??"
It's too bad we never saw Howard again, but at least they acknowledged he existed (poor Miss Mahoney!). I like things like this small bit of continuity. It makes the viewer feel like the writers are (almost) as involved in the history of the show as the viewers and fans. They should have done better keeping records for the showrunners' bible, but I'll give them credit for this one!
'80sSitcoms 08-03-2018, 10:18 AM Of course the window opens! How else would the squirrel get in?
No no no, I know windows open! lol...my message was the excitement of it opening---one of only 2 episodes it's ever shown open!* You will notice I did not say "The girls' window actually opens!", I said "The girls' window actually open!", using "open" as an adjective, instead of a verb. Don't forget Retro, FACT: Fast, Accurate, Concise, True! ;)
Nice shout-out to the first season! :D
And a great little piece of continuity: Blair is a fan of Emily Dickinson's poems.
Yup..."She writes like I would...if I had the time to write". lol
'80sSitcoms 08-03-2018, 10:25 AM *Wow! It's a good thing I went back and checked Princess Alexandra's debut episode, because I had a hunch about that guy being in the girls' room---and I was right, it shows him sneaking back out the window! (it doesn't show him sneaking in, as he's already in the room when the scene begins)
The first time the window is ever shown open, and 1 of only 2 times in 3 seasons! lol...too bad that window wasn't utilized more. You have 4 teenage girls living up there, you'd think at least one of them would sneak a boy in, lol...or at least have a friend/schoolmate stay over who would.

You can see in other photos this is actually pretty common, but no "foreign objects" have ever been just left/placed down there before, lol.
'80sSitcoms 08-03-2018, 10:37 AM They moved the windows that were in the front of the classroom to the side wall
And they flattened them out "straight"; in Mr. Gideon's classroom, the windows "curve" at an angle! That was a really neat touch.

Oh, hanging pots and pans, sure; I thought you meant decorating as in plants, wall hangings, etc.
Whoa, I just checked his IMDB page---he was 6 foot 6! No wonder he looks so tall! lol

RetroGuy2000 08-03-2018, 10:53 AM Oh, hanging pots and pans, sure; I thought you meant decorating as in plants, wall hangings, etc.
Oh, he might have put some plants in the windows; anyone can do that. But it would have been Mrs. Garrett who gave the cafeteria that "special touch", with most of the decor we see added throughout the years. No way was Howard adding wall hangings.
Whoa, I just checked his IMDB page---he was 6 foot 6! No wonder he looks so tall! lol
6'6" is incredibly tall. But Charlotte being only 5', and some of the girls not being fully grown makes Howard seem even taller.
RetroGuy2000 08-03-2018, 10:56 AM And they flattened them out "straight"; in Mr. Gideon's classroom, the windows "curve" at an angle! That was a really neat touch.
I agree. That curve made a nice bay window. Doesn't match any of the exteriors we ever saw on this show, but none of the sets we saw actually match the exteriors. Which... pretty typical for a 1980s sitcom.

Oh, haha! I misunderstood! Thanks for the clarification.
Once the window is open, we can see how forested it is on that part of the Eastland grounds, without any objects in the way. I've got to say, the set designers did a much better job than whoever set up the matte painting behind Mr. Bradley!

RetroGuy2000 08-03-2018, 11:21 AM Hey, that's okay, his classroom was in a different building. :)
Yeah, sadly, we never got a good establishing shot of a classroom. Unless you count the opening credits where we briefly see the four girls walking into a building which is not the first season cafeteria and not the dorm.

'80sSitcoms 08-03-2018, 03:28 PM I like some of the touches at Rose's place, like the '70s-esque portraits of wildflowers, and the flowerpot picture in the kitchen area. Speaking of the kitchen area, I'd never seen such a small, "portable"-looking stove before.
And look, it's a "Facts" promotional shot on a "Facts" set! Check out Jo's picture!
(and yes, I just checked, but this 3rd stereo in the cafeteria years is still not Tumpy's stereo---crazy!)

I guess Tumpy was selling it because it didn't work well, and by the time the second season rolled around, Mrs. Garrett had junked it.

I don't think this apartment stands up to much close inspection. It's not just the TV on a desk with a chair in front of it, and not being in front of the TV, although that's all very odd. It's also the fact that there's a chair very close to the kitchen sink. That would be awkward. And then there's the bedroom, which must be incredibly small. We can see there's very little space for it, cramped between the living room and the apartment hallway: there's just a closet's-width of space where the bed must go!
Usually, I think the FOL sets are very livable, but this apartment would be very awkward to actually live in.
Also: it's too bad Jo's cousin Terry wasn't at Jo's party! That would have been a nice touch of continuity.

I think it's an illusion there's a chair that close to the kitchen sink; if you look at the footage, it doesn't actually "read" like that.
As for the bedroom, maybe it curves around to the left? Or maybe that's a bathroom hallway, and the bedroom's in the 4th wall? Although if memory serves, it does seem like the hall is where the bedroom is.
Also: it's too bad Jo's cousin Terry wasn't at Jo's party! That would have been a nice touch of continuity.

I just re-watched the episode, and I'd hate to be making dinner at that counter with the guests sitting right behind me, at that table.
As for the bedroom, maybe it curves around to the left? Or maybe that's a bathroom hallway, and the bedroom's in the 4th wall?
Jo comes out of that room the next morning, as if it's a bedroom. It definitely doesn't curve around to the left, either, since we can see both the wall on the right and the wall upstage.

Wait, are we talking about the same thing?
I'm saying if you walk straight back to that piece of furniture in the very small hall, then turn right toward the right-hand wall, and then you would turn left, facing the "back" again, going down another tiny hall space to a bedroom back there. I mean it must, since Jo comes out of it in the morning; unless we pretend the bathroom's back there, and the bedroom is in the 4th wall.
OR, unless the only place to sleep there is the couch that folds out into a sleeper sofa? (a la The Mary Tyler Moore Show, lol)

I think that "very small hall" is the bedroom (which is why it has a door; a hallway wouldn't need a door). To the right of the furniture is a window (you can see it briefly when Rose comes out of the room with her waitress uniform), so there would be very little space for a door going upstage. And since Rose comes out of there with her clothes, it's unlikely that the bedroom is somewhere in the "fourth wall".
OR, unless the only place to sleep there is the couch that folds out into a sleeper sofa? (a la The Mary Tyler Moore Show, lol)
I wouldn't rule out a sleeper sofa for visitors, but I think Rose sleeps in that very small bedroom. I hope once Jo left Langley, Rose was able to move into something better!

Hmmm, then perhaps on the other side of the window, the room juts to the left (the back of the set), like this: __| And maybe the bed fits there?
By the way, I'm impressed you watched the episode. I don't know that I could do that much at all; this series is such sequential binge-watching for me because we go with the girls through their lives as they grow up. :)
And yes, they really should have had Uncle Sal, Terri, and the boys there for continuity.

But then the room would be jutting into apartment 36, next door. And the remaining width of the room, after the furniture and the window, would be, like, two feet.

I do like sequential airings, but I don't mind watching out of sequence for serious research! ;)
And yes, they really should have had Uncle Sal, Terri, and the boys there for continuity.
It's actually spelled "Terry", again, just like Terry the track runner. According to IMDB, there were actually four Terrys on the show (Terry Largo, Jo's cousin; Terry the track runner' Terry Rankin, an Eastland student during the series finale; and Terry, a boy from Stone Military Academy. Only the last one was a guy. Not sure why they all had the male spelling, but it is what it is.
Yes, four Terrys, six Emilys, six Steve(n)s, two Jennys, three Howards (if you count the backdoor pilot), three Marks, three Franks, three Pauls...

I was all ready to prove you wrong with a screenshot, and remind you of Mr. Gideon's FACT lesson again, when I went to get said screenshot but saw they actually did spell it the masculine way; why?? All these girls should be "Terri"!

LOL, you could be right.

Well, they are not: they are all Terry.
Who are the 6 Emilys and 6 Steves?
We've met a few of the Emilys already:
1. Emily Mahoney
2. Emily the "The Group" Member
3. Emily who played an Eastland student in three episodes
4. Emily, Allison's baby
5. Emily, a character in season five (played by Penina Segall, Pamela Segall's sister)
And I threw in Emily Dickinson, just for a laugh!
The Steves:
1. Steven Bradley
2. Steve the Delivery Boy
3. Dr. Steven Perkins, in "A Death in the Family"
4. Steve Garland, college student
5. Steve in "The Last Drive-In"
6. Steve in the Finale
But, you can't really fault them for using several names more than once, because that's just reality; especially if they are "normal" or popular names.
Oh, I don't fault them for using the same name across the entire series; as you say, that's realistic. But a rule of fiction is that you don't use the same name at the same time. Having two Steves and two Emilys, all four in the same season, can only confuse viewers. At least the Howards were separated by a full season.

Fear of doing just this has led me to check and double-check the wall outlets the night before any important meetings/classes/etc I might have in the morning.
And they left their glasses of orange juice, barely touched, in the bedroom! Mrs. G went to all that trouble, and they left their glasses in the room. Well, three of them did, anyway. Who do you think took hers with her? Or did she set it down somewhere else in the room?

Well, the first Emily was really "Miss Mahoney", and the Steven Bradley was really "Mr. Bradley", so at least they hardly ever said their first names.
Wait... they get rid of Señor Tiger? I mean, I knew they were growing up, but... not Señor Tiger! *sniff*
I'm assuming they do. I don't plan on continuing to do this for the rest of the series, so I'm just assuming he gets let go from the show before season 5, lol. But maybe he does make the transition to the house. All I know is, this is the final shot of him over the cafeteria...[sigh]...

'80sSitcoms 08-04-2018, 01:58 PM I understand; that was a lot of work! (And you still have to do the two "Graduation" episodes and two "Brave New World" episodes to make the Eastland cycle complete)!
You're not letting me off the hook yet! (but really, yes, I have to at least do BNW to finish Eastland)
Now what happened to FACT, '80s? Did you check and check again?
 "First you check, then you re-check! Then you check again!" (that's a lot of checking!)
I forgot to adjust that post, after I realized we would still see him in "Graduation".

That picture was supposed to evoke (from left to right) the sadness of Nancy, the shock of Sue Ann, the questioning of Cindy, and the "I'm so outta here" attitude of Molly.

hahaha, nice...since Molly was so blown away and crushed, that's why I designated her the  face. And I chose Sue Ann as confused because she was such a major star of the show, yet, she didn't seem to be greatly affected by being dropped (at least to our knowledge). So that left my Cindy to be like "Okay, whatever, oh well", lol.

I don't know how pure Nancy was; she was always talking about memories in the back seat of Roger's car, lingerie, etc.

They're both there, you just can't see NCP ("New Cat Pillow", haha) in that shot. As to where they went or who took them in after this, I don't know.

'80sSitcoms 08-10-2018, 01:49 PM Hey, look in the first photo of Mrs. Garrett's bedroom on this page, under the lamp on the table, to the right of the green object; it looks sort of like an Easter Island statue thingy!

I think you are right. Otherwise, the bed could not have been at that much of an angle, and still be flat against the wall.
RetroGuy2000 08-10-2018, 02:28 PM Discussion of Mrs. G's room should also mention the heart(?)-shaped coat rack. I've never seen that style of coat rack anywhere else.

'80sSitcoms 08-14-2018, 01:34 PM By the by, it looks like* "Graduation" is indeed the final time we see Señor Tiger on The Facts of Life. I just checked the girls' room in season 5, "The Second Time Around" (I was surprised we didn't see the girls' room sooner in season 5, but so far that's the earliest I see), and the only refugee from the cafeteria building I can find so far is the infamous New Yorker poster that gets hung over Blair's bed.
However, I was blown away to see a season 4 set in season 5 I was not at all expecting---Rose Polniaczek's apartment! I had completely forgotten we ever saw it again post-Eastland! (and poor Rose, she sports a very unfortunate haircut in this episode)
*(I added "it looks like" because without that phrase, my wording reads as absolute fact. And I learned from Mr. Gideon's class that when you claim a fact, you use "F.A.C.T.", and you check, then you re-check, and then you check again---so I am not 100% claiming the tiger never again appears, but it's my belief so far that he does not [lol] )

There is no "Edna's room".
Ever again.
It's never shown in this house.
:(
RetroGuy2000 08-14-2018, 11:44 PM Whaaaaatttttt????

rusty spike 08-15-2018, 12:12 AM A question:
Would the sets of different rooms and hallways be erected and remain "set-up" for the entire season?
Or would they be disassembled and reassembled as needed from week to week?
If it's the latter, then that might explain the small variations and the migration of certain props from room to room.

I don't know, but funnily enough, in over 20 "Family" sketches and 135 episodes of Mama's Family, they never show Mama's bedroom.
Ever!
The only time we ever see Mama's bedroom is in the final act of the 1982 90-minute teleplay Eunice.
But in Mama's house, we see just about everything else---for Pete's sake, we even see the interior of a closed-door closet, but not Mama's bedroom! lol
Also funnily enough, I never think of this as "Edna Garrett's house". Because the house is attached to the shop, I think of her as more of a renter. Maybe that's not the case, but I just never think of it as her house, or even the girls' house.

Hey Rusty!
Welcome to the conversation!
As far as I know, the main sets do not come down from week to week (there's a "Friends" special which talks about the sets being dismantled between seasons.) Temporary sets, used for a single episode, would likely come down after being used, but sets like the Dorm Common Room, the S2 Cafeteria, Edna's Edibles and the Living Room, would stay up during the taping season.
There might be exceptions to this, though: it's possible they broke the sets down in the three-month hiatus between episodes 1-04 ("IQ") and 1-05 ("Overachieving"). I can tell you that there are some significant changes to the furniture between those two episodes, as if things were disassembled and then reassembled during the same season. '80s has documented these changes in the screenshots.
'80sSitcoms 08-15-2018, 05:36 PM I agree it seems shows leave up their main sets during an entire season's taping schedule. But, what of seldom-seen sets? There's not really a good "Facts" example, but, say, Vint & Naomi's "boudoir" in Mama's basement on Mama's Family. It's seen just a handful of times, spread out over the course of several seasons; would they just leave it up and bring it over when needed, or would they reassemble/disassemble it each time?
'80sSitcoms 08-16-2018, 05:07 PM I could be wrong, but for this scene it looks like they moved the lounge hallway door to the other side of the kitchen door in this scene to block the view outside the window. If not, maybe it's an optical illusion; but if so, why??

I'm pretty sure they would disassemble and reassemble when needed. Studios need space, and there would be no reason to keep a set up if they weren't using it for the rest of the season.

Well we know the kitchen/cafeteria/lounge are always up, so I would assume the lounge "hallway" would remain up as well. My question is, why put up a wall to block the view through the kitchen's round window?? That's so odd! I even checked another episode, and you can't see "just a wall" when they show the kitchen-side of the door. Maybe there was some set adjustment or something going on (things stored on the cafeteria set) that gave them cause to block the view with a wall? So odd....
RetroGuy2000 08-18-2018, 04:31 PM I agree it's quite odd.
