Hulu recently acquired the entire series of MASH and the 4th season ender The Interview normally scene in B/W is in full color!
It does NOT appear to have been computer colorized. So I'm thinking that maybe, just maybe it was initially shot in color but reprinted in black and white
for broadcast. Hulu is the only place I've seen this color version.
I can NOT find any info on this anywhere on the web. Does ANYONE know the answer?
Any reply would be welcome

I sent a PM to a guy on another site, who was involved with remastering MASH. He might know.

Here's the answer from the guy who worked on MASH remastering several years ago: it was a mistake, pure and simple. Here's his reply:
Things like this happen because people screw up. It's very likely the execs in charge were not alive when this episode was first aired, so they had no idea they were making a mistake.
Anybody smart would have done the research, read books, checked episode guides and so on and not made this mistake. But the reality is that many syndication companies (and studios and networks) are shorthanded, trying to do too much work with too few employees. As a result... mistakes get made.
I've made similar mistakes in the past where I worked on day-for-night scenes and made them look like day. Luckily for me, before the show was shipped I realized, "hey! This was supposed to be night!" and I darkened everything down and made it look like night.
So... crap happens. Inferior people should not be employed.

I don't get it. How is The Interview being in color a mistake?
Was that how it was originally shot, but never aired that way?
Did they use the original negative?
