Milo Ventimiglia is turning 41 today. Ventimiglia studied theater at UCLA; while in college, he made a number of TV guest appearances. His first prominent role was as Jess Mariano on Gilmore Girls; Ventimiglia was a regular for seasons 2-3 and returned for guest appearances in later seasons. In the mid-2000s, he starred in the indie comedy Dirty Deeds, and played Robert Balboa, Jr., in Rocky Balboa, before returning to series television in the role of Peter Petrelli on Heroes; he was one of five people to remain a regular for all four seasons.
Ventimiglia’s career seemed to have stalled in the first half of the 2010s. He landed regular roles on two series, TNT’s Mob City and ABC’s The Whispers, but neither lasted more than a single season. Ventimiglia’s film career did not progress well, either, as films such as Kiss of the Damned, Grace of Monaco, and Wild Card were unsuccessful. However, he has bounced back in the last two years, starring as Jack Pearson on This Is Us. Ventimiglia received the first Emmy nomination of his career for the show’s first season.
