When I was watching Law And Order UK this morning I noticed that in the scenes that take place in the courtroom the judges wear wigs and I had never noticed it before. Is this part of the uniform that British judges and attorneys wear when they attend court in the UK? I thought the uniforms that the judges wore on Law And Order UK are pretty neat and the wig makes the uniform very stylish and very cool

It's to give the courtroom an air of uniformality and dignity, devoid of personalized emotion so the evidence can be heard in an impartial atmosphere without distraction.

Oh, so that's why the judges wear wigs on Law And Order UK? Because when I watched Law And Order UK and I see the judges wear the uniforms I think the wigs make the judges more gentleman like and very proper
