8 STILL STANDING
Marriage is difficult. Between commitments to work and raising kids, finding time to be romantic and fun is hard to come by. Still Standing, which ran on CBS from 2002 to 2006, chronicled the conflict between responsible adulting, while yearning for lost youth that we all feel eventually. The show tackled this idea pretty well.
Life moves too fast. We get older and it’s not easy to accept. Still Standing was the sitcom manifestation of this mindset and it was great while it lasted.
The show followed a blue-collar couple in this situation, only they weren’t willing to grow old and become boring without a fight. They were still very much still in touch with their old teenage personas, which posed problems for them as parents trying to instill good values in their own kids. Given that they were once guilty of doing the same things growing up.
