This group was huge in the UK in the mid- 1970s, founded by bassist Alan Longmuir, who has died aged 70 after contracting a mystery virus in Mexico. https://youtu.be/mEhkM3X_teQ

So sorry to hear this. The band was named after Bay City, Michigan by throwing a dart at a map of the United States, which landed near Bay City, Michigan which is about an hour's drive north of me straight up I-75.

Very sad news :(
I definitely remember this group and many of their songs:

Give A Little Love; Let's Go (Hugging and Kissing in the moonlight)
Summer Love Sensation; Be My Baby; Remember (Sha La La La)
Saturday Night (S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y); My Teenage Heart
Keep On Dancing; Yesterday's Hero

Their songs are just as good today. as they were back in the 70's.
Just Timeless

What is more amazing last year they had a concert in Australia July 2017 at THE GOV

The Bay City Rollers also did a cover of Dusty Springfield's song I Only Wanna Be With You and it's a cool cover. I remember hearing the song Saturday Night and I thought it was clever the way they designed the intro with them spelling Saturday

Yes I remember those times, when neighbours knew one another, houses were cheap, unemployment was low and people lived for the moment, free of debt and worry, many fewer in the prison system, streets generally safe..https://youtu.be/ytii7-bUxuk

Sad to learn of this news. Bay City Rollers had a brief heyday in the states, mostly during 1975 and 76. By 1977 they were already starting to slip off the radar. Saturday Night is the song that made them stars in the USA. My favorite Rollers tune is Money Honey, which is one of their more heavier songs. I Only Want To Be With You is good too, much better than the Dusty Springfield version in my opinion. Bay City Rollers in some ways were the 1970's version of The Beatles, but the Rollers popularity was shorter lived.

Compared to some of the boy bands around today they were the genuine article. Cheated out of millions, I'm surprised they evince such a sang-froid exterior.

I once worked with someone who became ill after visiting Mexico; amoebic dysentery I believe. She was never the same again.
