Ellison also wrote episodes of Babylon 5, The Outer Limits and the 1980s Twilight Zone TV series. But he's best remembered for writing the original Star Trek series episode "The City On The Edge Of Forever," (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_City_on_the_Edge_of_Forever) which is widely considered one of the best if not the best Trek episodes. "Harlan Ellison: There was no one quite like him in American letters, and never will be," tweeted Stephen King. "Angry, funny, eloquent, hugely talented. If there's an afterlife, Harlan is already kicking a** and taking down names."

Fantastic writer. One of my favorites. His stories are way out there.

I enjoyed his angry rants back in the 90's on Scifi Buzz (on the pre SyFy SciFi Channel)

great writer, he wrote a lot of very important things.

unknown to many, he is the person actually responsible for Scientology; during a poker game with a group of Sci-Fi writers, he jokingly responded to L. Ron Hubbard's complaint about not being able to sell any stories with "you want to get rich - start your own religion."

I think it's fairly well known that Ellison's City On The Edge Of Forever was heavily rewritten and wasn't anything like the aired episode. And understandably he was quite angry about it. It's a shame we'll never know or see what the original story was like and how it might've been received by people. But with the title "The City On The Edge Of Forever" I can imagine all kinds of scenarios of what it was about myself.
