I know that BONANZA was the first western in color, but what was the first syndicated show in color? Was it THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN? And what was the first network show in color?

I know some Cisco Kids and at least some episodes of Sgt. Preston were in color. The final season of Lone Ranger was in color. A couple of very early Lassie episodes were filmed in color.

I also know some misc. CBS shows were in color (1 episode). Season 5 ep. 1 of Burns and Allen was in color (probably 1954) (that's on Youtube), as was one early episode of What's My Line. 2 NBC episodes of Life of Riley were in color, according to Wikipedia.

The season nine (1962-1963) episode of Lassie called The Journey was the first episode filmed in color. A five part episode, Timmy and Lassie get swept into Canada on a balloon. Richard Keil ("Jaws" in the James Bond Movies The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker) plays a bit part in this episode.

I read somewhere that a very early episode with Tommy Rettig was filmed in color. It might have been a two or more part episode.

It was probably just a test for CBS (if true), like the 1954 Burns and Allen episode.

There were a few later examples of shows filmed in color, during black and white seasons. Examples would be a couple of first season episode of The Joey Bishop Show, a first season episode of Hazel, and a final season episode of Perry Mason, and maybe an early episode of Wagon Train.
