The opening credits for season 2 still include Penny but the original Mark has been cut and Christopher Castile has been included.

Odd that Penny's still there.

I guess that the people in charge of the show didn't see it before it was too late. Or if they saw it, they figured that the viewers wouldn't see it.

I actually did notice that! I think when I first watched it on a standard TV set it was a lot less noticeable so that's why producers didn't think to change it, but now with HD you can see the sides better. I know they filmed that in-front of a green screen.

Haha, good eyes, tlc38tlc38 (and Lorimar)! It's funny because in some parts of the opening credits, you can still see Jarrett, too. They probably didn't want to re-shoot the green screen scene, and figured most people wouldn't notice Aunt Penny briefly in the back row.

BTW, Suzanne recently mentioned (https://www.today.com/style/flashback-suzanne-somers-looks-back-three-s-company-step-step-t118938) Carol's missing sister and mom:
"By the way, the mother and the sister had a pig year one, and then they were both gone. We never saw them again, never talked to them again. No one ever said 'Where's mom? Where's sister? Where's the pig?' That's television."

I actually never noticed her, but maybe it was because she was on the far end of my TV screen if she was shown at all.
