Have you met any people related to sitcoms whether it be actors/actresses, directors, writers, producers, etc. who were nice or either just plain rude?

My mom just told me a story about how she met Meredith Baxter in the 80s at her job and she was rude to my mother. At the time, she was pregnant along with returning a car, and both did not speak to each other much.

What’s your story?

I have not met any stars but am friends with the now dead Abe Vigoda on Facebook. At one point I was friends with Barbara Eden but she deleted her account.

Wayne Brady is very nice in person, and very humble.
Vivica A Fox is nice, but her people are not.
Brett Butler was funny in person.
Melissa Gilbert and Bruce Boxleitner were nice.
Alyssa Milano is sweet in person.
Angelina Jolie is a bitch.
James Marsters is very cool
Emma Caulfield is very nice.

Okay, not all of these are sitcom people, but these are some of the celebs I have met or worked with.

Katey Sagal was in a creative writing class I took last summer. She was nice but low-key, didn't act like a superstar or anything. Offered a lot of good commentary and insight during our peer reading discussions.

Kareem Abdul Jabbar - I met him at an autograph signing about 10 years ago!! He was really super nice !:) He is BIG!! My God , he was sitting at a table but you could still see how tall he was and I shook his hand. He had the biggest hand I ever saw in my life!!:D

Ken Howard from the White shadow- Very nice , sweet man . :)Also very tall ! I met him at a car wash in the 80's ! I was near a rich neighborhood and decided for whatever reason to get my car washed! Talk about being in the right place at the right time! I thought it was him but wasn't sure and finally walked up to him and asked and he said he was and was very nice to me!!;)

George Peppard - Not nice at all!!! :(Also in the he 80's ! I was with my friend and she recognized him and said "Oh my kids love you in the A'team " And he looked like he could care less and basically brushed past us!!!:p

I wonder why? I used to enjoy reading her comments. Always seemed like just a nice lady.

Sitcom wise (though animated but that counts) I met Isaac Hayes! He came to speak to a college class and he was so amazing. He talked about being a musician and played for us. Such a great person.

I met Bill Maher at a performance and he was nice to me but he was signing a book I bought of his and it was after a performance.

Not sitcom people but including them here: I lived near several famous blues musicians and all were so laid back. I attended school with the daughter of a member of Styx and met them on several occasions and all down to earth. Most of them lived not far from me.

Met the members of Duran Duran and all were nice except Simon Le Bon who was abrupt. I didn't care though as I've heard worse about him.

I didn't get to meet him but Tom Hanks was filming a movie about two blocks from me. I know several people who met him and all said he's a great guy. Cool story, one of these people is a teacher and he said he would show up to talk to her class. She thought he was just being polite but he really showed up! I wish I had met him. Another person was waitressing at a restaurant he ate at and he was kind and left a large tip.

That's awesome. It's always nice when a big celebrity is down to earth and approachable. It's also great that she was involved in the work, and wasn't just there to matriculate.

This is not the first time I've heard that George Peppard is rude to people.

I've never met her, but I've also heard that Helen Hunt is rude/abrupt with people.

I have never met any famous sitcom people (yet), but Frances Bavier (Aunt Bee from The Andy Griffith Show) lived in Siler City, NC (not too far from where I live) until her death in 1989. I have heard many times that she was nasty to just about everyone she talked to, and she was especially nasty to Andy Griffith when they were working on the show!

Another person that my mom met who was sitcom related was the late Paul Benedict. She said that he was a nice person and this was also at her rent a car job as well.

I’ve never met any sitcoms actors. I met Patrick Stump of the band Fall Out Boy and he was nice.

It seems I recall someone on this board posted years ago they sometimes saw Marla Gibbs at a health foods store and she was not very friendly and didn’t really care to talk.

I had heard before that she didn't get along with Andy. I'm sorry to hear that she wasn't nice to other people, too.

Wow, crazy!

I read a story about a guest star on Mad About You who somehow angered Helen Hunt in some small way, prior to the taping of the episode. The guest actor didn't really even know what she'd done, and didn't get any answers, but it was clear that Helen Hunt was ticked for whatever reason. The guest star came back the next day to the studio to tape what had been a significant part in the episode, and her lines had been reduced to almost nothing, overnight. She had been demoted to extra without even knowing what she'd done wrong to Helen Hunt.

Yeah, I believe it !! After all these years I still remember this man being rude !! :(My Friend was almost in tears , she was like "Wow all I said was how my kids were fans of him and his show"!!! And this was a tough girl, not easily upset!! To be honest, I didn't even know who he was till after this happened!! I never watched the ATeam, but I knew of it, pretty much only knowing of Mr.T and I was like "Well screw him than, Mr T is the main guy on that show anyway"! ;);)

What was it like meeting the cast of The Brady Bunch JamesG and Fleet?

I met Chris Knight at the BigAppleCon in Oct. 2009. It was shortly after his father died so I told him I was sorry about his passing and glad that he still came to the event.

Then Lookinland, Knight and Williams were all at the BigAppleCon in Oct. 2010. I remember Lookinland was glad that I picked out a photo from "The Bradys" for him to sign as he loved that show. Barry Williams wasn't as chatty as Lookinland was, but was still pleasant to talk with.

All three of them then did a panel discussion where you can read here: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=273926&

I met Susan Olsen at New Jersey's Chiller back in April 2011. She was very open and happy to chat with people.

I asked her if she had seen the X-rated Brady Bunch pornos and laughed and told me a story that porn star Ron Jeremy wanted her to endorse it and was trying to find her at various cons they both attended, but she wanted no part of it.

I told her that I saw Chris Knight mentioning it in an interview and she told me "that it came through Ron Jeremy" and he got him instead.

I met Florence Henderson at a Barnes & Noble in NYC back in Sept. 2011 for her memoir Life Is Not a Stage.

I detailed that event here: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=290201&
