View Full Version : Laff summer schedule changes
Starting July 2, there will be some changes coming to Laff's schedule and here's what is known so far:
. Gone is Grace Under Fire from afternoons, will still be on in the mornings (Night Court will be replacing it)
. Drew Carey Show is also gone from mornings, replaced by Spin City and Grace Under Fire, will still be on in the afternoons
I will post anything else if needed.
Svenfan1234 06-20-2018, 04:09 PM No 3rd Rock yet? Surprised that Laff's schedule changed like that. I would like to see 3rd Rock from the Sun.

Not according to the TV guide, no.
Okay. This is weird.
Laff has two different schedules here, one says 3rd Rock and the other one doesn’t.

DeadlyToolTime 06-20-2018, 08:12 PM What are the chances this has to do with Home Improvement arriving to Laff earlier than expected? Does this mean we might get 3rd Rock in September?

It could be just a rumor and may not be true at all, but we’ll have to see what happens.
icecream 06-21-2018, 12:48 PM 3rd Rock is coming July 16 and will air weekdays 5-7PM. Night Court and Drew Carey both move 2 hours earlier.

Oh good! Is anything getting removed at all do you know?
icecream 06-21-2018, 03:50 PM Oh good! Is anything getting removed at all do you know? Not with these changes.
Not with these changes.
Thank you for letting me know.
DeadlyToolTime 06-21-2018, 05:00 PM Well that's good. I've been looking forward to 3rd Rock since it was announced the show was coming to Laff, same with That 70s Show. I wonder what made them push back the premier date. Possibly another Night Court marathon for July 4th?

Probably not. The marathon would be on for most of the day if there was one.
DeadlyToolTime 06-21-2018, 05:14 PM That is true, but who knows how far ahead Laff plans their schedule.
mets82 07-01-2018, 05:07 PM I don't get LAFF anymore. Is Roseanne on considering...?

No more Roseanne on LAFF, Home Improvement has taken its place.
mets82 07-01-2018, 11:37 PM Was it because of Roseanne's tweet or was this planned?
Was it because of Roseanne's tweet or was this planned?
It was because of her tweet.
I almost forgot that the new schedule changes started today because when going to look at the schedule, Night Court was on in place of Grace Under Fire.
The 3rd Rock commercial is out!
icecream 07-02-2018, 08:27 PM I have not watched lately but saw on my guide that Night Court and Drew Carey had switched places.
Looks like the double episode glitch of Night Court finally got fixed according to the TV listings guide.
I'm talking about duplicates of Season 9, Episode 2.
DeadlyToolTime 08-04-2018, 06:13 PM So I was watching Laff around 1am this morning and found out that apparently, 3rd Rock now also airs at 2am, which I believe was the timeslot that Grace Under Fire previously occupied. What's interesting is that they'll continue the show as is, rather than just starting from the beginning with the 2am airings.
3rd Rock isn't really a continuity heavy sitcom (you can watch most of the episodes, except for the pilot and season finales/openers, out of order and not miss much), but I feel like doing this is gonna mess up thing a for viewers who want to watch every single episode, but can't afford a dvr or a way to record each episode. I noticed on Thursday, the 5pm airing of 3rd Rock was a season 4 episode, which to a person who may have never seen the show before, must've been questioning why the show went from Tommy having long hair to him no longer having long hair to him having long hair again.
Personally, if I was in charge of Laff, I'd just have the 2am airings go from the beginning of the series onward.
Is Grace Under Fire still on the lineup?
DeadlyToolTime 08-04-2018, 06:21 PM Yeah. Grace is still on the lineup. They just replaced the 2am hour of Grace with an hour of 3rd Rock.

Oh that’s good. I think it’s still on weekdays if I'm not mistaken.
DeadlyToolTime 08-08-2018, 03:03 AM Not schedule related, but it seems Laff has changed their aspect ratio again.

They did? To what?
DeadlyToolTime 08-08-2018, 04:23 PM They did? To what?
According to my tv, 4:3. From what I've been watching of Laff today, the following shows have showed up in letterbox format: Spin City, Night Court, The Drew Carey Show. 3rd Rock from the Sun seems to still remain in widescreen and apparently, they fixed the ratio on the show because now I can actually watch the episodes with characters and the opening credits showing up fully onscreen.

I hope my affiliate back home isn't like this.
DeadlyToolTime 08-13-2018, 06:51 PM So Laff seems to have skipped S04E24 and the first two season 5 episodes of 3rd Rock from the Sun. I wonder why they keep doing that.
MikeLutton 08-13-2018, 08:47 PM they need more Night court then just 2 hours ya know
icecream 08-13-2018, 09:30 PM they need more Night court then just 2 hours ya knowNight Court should replace That 70s Show from 11PM-1AM. 70s has been way overplayed on several networks.

Could it be a glitch perhaps?
Night Court should replace That 70s Show from 11PM-1AM. 70s has been way overplayed on several networks.
That 70s Show could go in Night Court's afternoon slot and then Night Court could go where That 70s Show was.
icecream 08-14-2018, 02:34 PM That 70s Show could go in Night Court's afternoon slot and then Night Court could go where That 70s Show was.No, the point was to reduce 70s and add more Night Court. That 70s Show would still air from 7-9PM. It has aired on a bunch of networks and been way overplayed, while the only other network Night Court has been on recently is Encore Classic. MikeL's comment was that Night Court needed more than 2 hours. Comedy Central also airs That 70s Show currently while Night Court is only on LAFF.

My bad.

No. It seems Laff has been skipping episodes intentionally for some reason.

I wonder why that is. Don't think their other shows have skipped episodes, but may be wrong about that.

Going off memory, they've skipped episodes of The Drew Carey Show and Night Court in the past.

But no other shows on there have gotten skipped?

This. As much as I love That 70s Show, I've seen every episode almost 500+ times (just making a guess) and I have to admit that it's being played to death on Laff and Comedy Central (I don't know if IFC still airs it). Another show I feel like is being played to death on Laff is Spin City. Again, love that show, but I feel like it's being played to death.
But no other shows on there have gotten skipped?
As far as I know, nope.
Spin City should get replaced by something else, but don't know which show that would be.

Laff's syndication package doesn't show the backstage pass.
icecream 08-17-2018, 01:52 PM Laff's syndication package doesn't show the backstage pass. The backstage pass on Home Improvement sadly has not aired in any syndication package. I have not seen it since originally airing on ABC. I don't know if the DVD sets include it.

It probably is on one of the DVD sets, but am unsure of which one.
icecream 08-17-2018, 01:57 PM It probably is on one of the DVD sets, but am unsure of which one.Probably season 8. The backstage pass aired right after the series finale.

It is, just checked.

Probably another hour of Grace Under Fire or Grounded For Life. I don't know if they still have the rights to Ellen and The Bernie Mac Show. Cybill is literally just filler for the channel (and rightfully so tbh), I doubt they'll bring back A Different World and I'm positive the rights to Empty Nest expired.
Sadly, there are no shows coming to the channel any time soon.

I know. I meant as in Laff probably no longer has the rights to bring the shows back to the lineup if they wanted to.
icecream 08-17-2018, 04:02 PM Cybill is literally just filler for the channel (and rightfully so tbh), Cybill shouldn't be just filler, it deserves a spot on the weekday schedule.

I apologize.

But what would it replace if it had that spot?
icecream 08-17-2018, 06:20 PM But what would it replace if it had that spot?Spin City does not need to air three hours in a row. And That 70s Show does not need four hours a day either.

Might as well take both of those shows off and replace them with something else.

That isn't what catsrule meant at all. What he means is that both shows need to have their hectic hours REDEUCED. Spin City has been on Laff since the channel first launched and I highly doubt they'll get rid of it any time soon. That 70s Show hasn't even been on Laff for a year, so getting rid of it would be really pointless if it hasn't even been on the channel for a year straight.

Now I know he means. Reduce their block scheduling.
Mr. Television 08-18-2018, 04:44 PM I never liked blocked scheduling.
There’s not enough shows on there, so that’s why there is block scheduling.
GordonQuid2002 08-20-2018, 08:53 AM There's too much Crocodile Dundee on weekends !
There's too much Crocodile Dundee on weekends !
They really should change their movies up.
DeadlyToolTime 08-21-2018, 04:13 PM So because of Laff's crappy scheduling, parts 1 and 2 of 3rd Rock's series finale are airing tonight at 2am and 2:30am.
