Coming as absolutely no surprise to anyone who likes quality TV, FX is bringing the Emmy winning "Atlanta" back for third season, the cabler announced today.

Whether it gets a re-titling like Season 2 did as "Atlanta Robbin Season", the third season of the Donald Glover created and starring series is aiming to be back on the air in 2019.

“Atlanta is phenomenal, achieving and exceeding what few television series have done,” said co-president of original programming for FX Networks and FX Productions Nick Grad today of the Brian Tyree Henry, Zazie Beetz and Lakeith Lee Stanfield co-starrer.

“With Atlanta Robbin’ Season, Donald and his collaborators elevated the series to even greater heights, building on the enormous success of their award-winning first season,” Grad added, along with co-president Eric Schrier on Thursday.

“We’re grateful to the producers and our extraordinary cast and crew for achieving this level of excellence, and we share the excitement with our audience about the third season knowing they will continue to take us to unexpected and thrilling places.”

Donald Glover says Atlanta Season 3 will be like Kanye West's "Graduation" album (http://www.indiewire.com/2018/06/atlanta-donald-glover-season-3-kanye-lakeith-stanfield-emmys-fyc-1201972950/)
“I align the seasons I think, to me, like Kanye records,” Glover said at an Emmys For Your Consideration event. “I feel like this is our ‘Graduation.’ This is probably our most accessible but also the realest — an honest version of it — and I feel like the most enjoyable, like the third album.”

Atlanta Season 3 will tell more female-centric stories (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/atlanta-season-3-feature-women-stories-writer-producer-stephen-glover-says-1118992)
"I think we have some cool ideas in season three that’ll put some more women on screen,” said Atlanta writer-producer Stephen Glover, Donald Glover's younger brother, at an Emmy For Your Consideration event. “There’s a very specific perspective from the Atlanta woman that I think we’re gonna explore in season three.”
