Mom and I saw Home Alone 2 Lost In New York this morning and she was curious about The Plaza Hotel where the character Kevin McCallister stayed and I would like to know if anyone has ever stayed at The Plaza Hotel during trips to New York? Also when the movie Home Alone 2 Lost In New York was being filmed there did The Plaza Hotel get a makeover and get renovated too? The only thing I knew about The Plaza Hotel was that it was the home of the classic children's book character Eloise and there's a painting of Eloise in the lobby of the hotel too. Also my mom liked the suite where Kevin stayed in the hotel and thought it was nice. Do those suites at The Plaza Hotel cost a lot of money for people to stay in because Mom was curious about it as well because she likes fancy hotel rooms?

I live here so I've never stayed in the hotel but I've been there before and after the renovation. Sorry, but I have a feeling you can't afford the suites. They probably start at something like $5,000 or $10,000 a night.

The Plaza is one of the most expensive hotels in NYC. Plan on spending a few thousand a night for a room..

Actually rooms there start in the $600 to $700 range as you see in the link below. President Trump used to own the Plaza hotel! Of course then he wasn't President!

What are you trying to do in entertainment?? You said you're in your late 30s right? I think that ship has kinda sailed.

By the way, I love President Trump!

I'd rather be a writer since that IS my commitment!

And I'm a Millennial/Gen Y of 1980-1986 so I don't bitch about the government much!

I never had that much of a commitment in acting...and with many actors like Robin Williams and Luke Perry being gone...I'd rather have new blood actors/actresses to be in my films that I would love to make one day....

So, you're a writer? Have you published anything or done a small independent movie or something?

Many people have found success in their careers later in life.

I have to ask how old you are because you sound very immature.

Agreed. And why does EVERYTHING have to turn political? I don't care what side of the political spectrum someone is on, but give it a rest. It's just to get a dig and an insult in on the opposite side. Grow up.

That's a good source but many of those people were already acting or some way involved in their industry before they hit it big.

Have you had anything published at all or produced/directed an independent film or something?

You do you and don't let anyone tell you that you can or cannot do something. If you want to achieve something, go for it. No one has the right to tell anyone else that their dreams aren't worthwhile.

I totally agree with that but you must be realistic at the same time. The odds that a varsity high school basketball player makes the NBA is less than 1 in a 1000. The odds a major junior hockey player makes the NHL are about 1 in a 1000. So someone who seeks to make it as a pro in either of those sports should realize it's VERY unlikely to happen.

In the same manner once I heard a guy from the AFI(American Film institute) say less than 1% of people who set out to be an actor, director, or producer actually succeed at it on a professional level. So I'm just saying look at the situation realistically.

The odds of a hockey player making the NBA must be way higher then that

Ha ha! Thanks for pointing that out.

Fixed it. Must've been that stupid auto-correct!

Obviously you'd have to be a billionaire to stay at the Plaza Hotel, or any famous hotel in the world, for that matter. Even if I was a billionaire, I wouldn't want to stay at the Plaza anyway, because 150 of its 430 units are actually residential condominiums; They are used as "pieds-à-terre" by their wealthy owners. It has been that way ever since a mid-2000s renovation. I'm rather reluctant to stay in hotels if they're in mixed-use properties, so I'd rather stay at the Four Seasons, Peninsula, or St. Regis instead.

WTH??

It's $600 to $700 a night for the cheapest room so you don't even have to be a millionaire much less billionaire to stay at the Plaza!

Have you ever heard of The Lanesborough in London? A 93-unit hotel in a former hospital building, the rooms in that hotel have to cost over $1,000 per night, and the suites start at twice that amount ($2,000).

But you do NOT have to a billionaire to stay at The Plaza so you're VERY wrong about that! You don't even have to be a millionaire to stay there.

How about this? The new Empathy Suite at the Palms Resort in Las Vegas, designed by Damien Hirst, is the world's most expensive hotel suite. That one cost $100,000 a night (with a two-night minimum). If a millionaire were to stay at that suite for thirty days, he'll be blowing through his life savings fast.

But they have MUCH cheaper rooms at that hotel so NO need to be anything NEAR a millionaire!
