The Jake and Amy wedding (http://forums.previously.tv/topic/70147-s05e22-jake-amy/?do=getLastComment) would've been the "perfect note" to end the series, says Alan Sepinwall, who is happy that NBC rescued Brooklyn Nine-Nine. "Where the series tends to blow up its status quo in its season finales," he says, "'Jake & Amy' was largely just a terrific, funny, and charming episode of a show that gets to go be all of those things on a new network next season. And we can worry about Holt’s rank when we get there."

Co-creator Dan Goor: "We didn’t want to do anything that would absolutely blow up the world at the end of the finale" (http://tvline.com/2018/05/20/brooklyn-nine-nine-finale-jake-amy-wedding-season-6-preview-nbc/)
Goor hasn't begun to consider if Season 6 could serve as the final season (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/brooklyn-nine-nine-season-finale-move-nbc-explained-dan-goor-interview-1113509)
