It's common knowledge that shows usually get worse over time, but what final seasons are unwatchable in your opinion? Mine are:

Newhart (that librarian lady they added was a filthy whore)
King of the Hill
Happy Days
Andy Griffith
The Brady Bunch

Definitely agreed on Happy Days.

Laverne & Shirley
The Waltons
Little House
Dallas
Falcon Crest
Bewitched
The Lucy Show
Lassie
The Simpsons
Bonanza

I still like them, just not as much as the rest of the seasons:

The Brady Bunch
The Andy Griffith Show
Happy Days
Hazel
All in the Family
The Facts of Life
Roseanne (season 9)
Grace Under Fire
Laverne & Shirley
Sabrina the Teenage Witch
Family Matters
The Lucy Show
Boy Meets World
Step by Step
The Drew Carey Show
Ellen
227
The Beverly Hillbillies
Petticoat Junction

They weren’t unwatchable but I would say the last seasons of I Love Lucy, Sanford and Son, and Diff’rent Strokes were the weakest of all their seasons and just get different and weren’t nearly as good as previous seasons.

As for I Love Lucy, the last season did have a few good episodes, like the one with Bob Hope, the Christmas one, Superman, and the Loving Cup, but the ones later in the season after they moved to Connecticut just weren’t that great to me. It almost felt like a different show.

Apologies - I didn’t read the title of the thread carefully - it’s about the final season, not later seasons.

I’m so disappointed with what has happened to The Simpsons that I have stopped watching. So I guess in my mind it’s over. Wish they had ended it years ago.

And I have to say I still liked “Lucy” a lot after they moved to Connecticut, at least for the 30 min episodes. I thought it really freshened the series, and we got some classics like “Lucy Does the Tango” and “Lucy Raises Chickens”. I also liked how they did an “arc” about the move over a number of episodes: Lucy sees the house and they put a deposit on it; the Ricardos move in with the Mertzes; the Ricardos get settled; Lucy meets the neighbors; the Mertzes move to Connecticut. Lots of story fodder.

The hour-long Connecticut episodes were weak, with a few exceptions.

“Lucy and the Loving Cup” is also from the final season (though not a Connecticut episode) and it’s probably my favorite of the entire series.

I hate The Simpsons in general.

My (second) favorite episode of Newhart is from the worst season: Season 8's Born To Be Mild ("RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE!")

The first 2 seasons were so good. Once Fonzie became the focus it became a totally different show. By the time every character got a huge ovation just for walking into a scene it became awful.

There were some great episodes in the 3rd season, such as Richie dealing with bullies at Arnold's. And there were some weak episodes in the 1st and 2nd season, like the bomb shelter episode.

DALLAS-when that dork was added to the cast as J.R.s illegitimate son; I forget the actors name Sasha something-or-other

MASH-CBS made a HUGE mistake by letting Alan Alda take over the typewriter and directors chair and making it all preachy and dramatic and "oh we're doctors...and we're nurse...and we're so good because we save lives...and we're so this and so that...and death is such a bummer..." and on and on...
Then they made a HUUUGE mistake by letting it run for 4 more years after Radar lleft.

Sasha Mitchell. He went on to Step by Step series and had he and wife had problems where he was accused of abusing her. His tv characters had better lives.
