The origin story of Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne's best friend and butler, will be told on Pennyworth, which has received a 10-episode straight-to-series order at Epix. Although Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller will lead the new Batman prequel, it is not a Gotham spinoff.

So basically they're doing a prequel to a prequel and that's the character they chose to do a show around? Seriously? Boring.

I hope Aunt Harriet gets her own series.

Why is Hollywood so obsessed with Batman prequels? Blame Smallville! (https://www.cbr.com/hollywood-batman-prequel-obsession-explained/)
The news (http://forums.previously.tv/topic/2022-gotham-in-the-media/?page=12) that Gotham creator Bruno Heller was making another Batman prequel, based on the Bruce Wayne's butler Alfred Pennyworth, begs the question: Why? "Why continue to flash back to a time when the World’s Greatest Detective was nowhere close to being that?" says Tom Speelman. "Well, half of it is just Warner Bros. doubling down on its golden goose. If people like Batman, executives figure, they want to see everything he was before Batman, right? If they get invested in his build up, we can keep them watching for as long as we want! Love it or hate it, Smallville‘s decade on the air set the precedent for this sort of thinking."

While I think Sean Pertwee has been good in the role of Alfred Pennyworth on Gotham, I also think Alfred's the least interesting character to do a series where he'd be the main character. And since it's a prequel I'm assuming it'll be set several years before Gotham so they'll have to get a younger actor to play Alfred who isn't Sean Pertwee. And I doubt the actor (whoever it is) or the TV series will make a show focusing on Alfred worth watching. Just my opinion.
