At NBC’s upfront call this morning, NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt was asked about the prospects of a "Champions" renewal.

“We try to honor the producers, let shows run and see what they do before making a decision that is premature,” Greenblatt said, noting that "Champions" has a couple of more episodes to air.

“We are hopeful and yet realistic as we have a lot of shows,” Greenblatt cautioned. “We are going to take a look at the shows after their run and hopefully make a quick decision on them.”

He later stressed that no decision has been made yet.

"Champions" got off to a quiet start in ratings for its March 8 premiere with a 0.7 adults 18-49 rating and 2.7 million viewers (Live+same day) in its Thursday 9:30 PM timeslot.

While this was a soft premiere delivery for a new series, "Champions" was just off from the preview in the time slot for fellow midseason NBC comedy "A.P. Bio".
