"iZombie" Renewed for Season 5 at The CW

The CW has renewed "iZombie" for a fifth season.

The series was on the bubble, but it has done ok ratings-wise and has an established fan base.

It’s official. The CW’s comedies "Jane the Virgin" and "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" will end after their upcoming fifth and fourth seasons, respectively.

Additionally, the network revealed this season that the upcoming fifth season of comedic drama "iZombie" also will be its last, making for string of farewells on The CW next season. It will start with "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend", which is on the fall schedule, and continue in midseason with "Jane the Virgin" and "iZombie".

"iZombie" was probably the bubbliest of The CW established series and in danger of cancellation over its ratings performance but clinched a renewal so its passionate core fan base can get a proper farewell — something The CW has done consistently with all of its long-running series.

I really liked iZombie, too bad it didn't get better ratings.

"We could have gone longer, but we are pretty pleased to be coming back for a fifth (season)," says executive producer Rob Thomas. "We got by by the skin of our teeth this year, and I would have been incredibly heartbroken if we had not gotten to do another one, because we would not have ended up leaving everything in a resolved place."
