Jay Hernandez will officially succeed Tom Selleck in the role of private investigator Thomas Magnum, in a reboot from Hawaii Five-O and MacGyver "rebirther" Peter Lenkov. CBS has also picked up Ava DuVernay's The Red Line, starring Noah Wyle, about the aftermath of a white Chicago cop accidentally shooting to death a black doctor. Greg Berlanti's God Friended Me stars The Mayor alum Brandon Michael Hall and Joe Morton in a drama about a young man who is "friended" by God on Facebook. CBS has also ordered The Code, a legal drama revolving around the military's brightest minds, starring Hamilton's Phillipa Soo. ALSO: Mira Sorvino and Dave Annable have left The Code and their roles will be recast. I saw the first ever preview of the Magnum P.I. reboot during Let's Make A Deal today and it makes me think that with all the remakes of all the classic dramas such as Magyver and SWAT and Hawaii Five-O that CBS has become drama revival king in TV and I'm sure the remake of Magnum P.I. will be a hit and score huge ratings in CBS's history when it debuts this fall. Mom was a fan of the original Magnum P.I. and I think the remake will be just as good as the original version
